CAD System for Lightning Protection Posted: 10 Feb 2011 10:15 AM PST Hello All! Let me present to you the first version of software for 3D design of direct stroke lightning protection. 3D Lightning is FREEWARE. This program uses the RSM [1] and class of LPS [2] in order to compute and visualize protected area. This helps to identify the efficiency of air-termination components. For the present, the program applies to rods (single, double and multiple rods). The earth's surface considered as ground plane on zero level. The striking distances to the ground, and to the rod are the same. Nevertheless, it allows for complete design cycle: - to create a model of rod - to create any feasible LPS, positioning the air-termination components - to change location and parameters of components - to visualize three-dimensional protected area - to cut part of protected area above a given level. (Equipment is taken as protected, if it is nowhere protrudes from this area) - to change a class of LPS - to generate a horizontal section in a given level - to obtain all the parameter values from protected area One of the great advantages of the software is the interactive design process (all design, arrangement, calculation, and visualization processes proceed in parallel (e. g. after placing the additional rod, you can see its adequate protected area immediately). You will be able to complete sophisticated design projects following minimal training. This application enfolds Autodesk® AutoCAD® working environment with supplementary set of advanced design tools. Software is available for: AutoCAD 2010 or higher(32/64bit) is compatible with: Windows 7 Windows Vista Windows XP We value your feedback and the opportunity to learn more about your particular needs. Computer Systems Tell When Chickens Attack Posted: 10 Feb 2011 06:40 AM PST Poultry farming has always been one of the major businesses of the world. Brands like KFC, venky's are the examples. Egg business is huge too! While these businesses were affected largely because of the recent "H1N1 Swine Flu" scare (and we had no choice but to kill 'em all!). There is one more phenomena the [...] More... |

Posted: 10 Feb 2011 05:56 AM PST Groupoff is India's startup that didn't put much creativity in choosing its name & business model. In simple words, Groupoff is Indian clone of GroupON. I'm not sure whether Groupon, which has recently entered in Indian markets with acquisition of SoSasta, will bring its clone to court. Groupon and Groupoff offer their customer great discounts by grouping them. That is, they look for people interested in a deal and then get discounts from the sellers. It's interesting to note that Groupon started as a simple wordpress blog and now a multi-million dollar business. What's your opinion on Groupoff? Will it pick up in India? Or will Groupon will drag it to court? |
Management education : For riches only Posted: 10 Feb 2011 05:52 AM PST Hey CEans! I came to know Management requires a bank balance of around 20 lakh if done from a decent college. Is this Education made for rich people only? And also how can a bank provide such a huge money as education loan. What do you say? |
Hostel Life :A Complete Freedom Posted: 10 Feb 2011 05:46 AM PST Hey CEans Dont you think hostel life is such a nice experience. Read this FREEDOM If one has never been a hostler, life is indeed incomplete. I am sure our hostler alumni, as happy as they may be in their present lives; get all ecstatic on recalling their hostel life. Those days spent away from home, away from a shouting dad, away from an over-affectionate mother, away from the gully cricket with colony friends, away from that small room where we spent the two years of our lives studying hard and dreaming big; those days are just too difficult to forget. And believe me, nothing much has changed today from your time, about what hostel life used to be. So what is hostel life all about? It’s about four buddies sleeping on the same bed. And that being brotherhood and not gay-pankti. It’s about staying awake late till night. And not letting anyone else sleep either. It’s about getting up late in the morning. It’s about the morning run from hostel to college to catch a lecture. It’s about borrowing money from a friend to pay for Ice Teas. It’s about boozing on the hostel terrace with your best friend. "Yaar my gf has dumped me (sobbing), it’s just you and me now.” It’s about betting money on Poker and losing every time. It’s about losing room keys. It’s about studying together before exams. It’s about sitting blank in the exam. It’s about locking ourselves inside the room when seniors came. It’s about researching new ways to smoke more stylishly. And teaching the non-smokers how to do it. It’s the place of realizations. A place to learn how to deal with friends, good friends, not-so-good friends, best friends, bad-friends and even I-don’t-know-him friends. It’s a place to learn the realities of relationships, families, career and what not. It's a place to experience "life". I don’t think I said enough to describe the profusion of events and experiences that hostel life has to offer. Cheers to hostel life and those who were, are and will be hostellers.. Hey day scholars ! please dont envy.. ;) |

New Website Covers Innovation Across the SouthWest Posted: 10 Feb 2011 04:57 AM PST Bristol, UK 10th February 2011 - A new website launched today is providing the latest news on innovation across the SouthWest of the UK. SW Innovation News (www.swinnovation.co.uk) is written by a team of experienced science and technology journalists living in one of the world's hottest regions for technology and innovation. Backed by key networking organisations in the region, the site also makes use of the expertise of the writers to identify opportunities for companies and research organisations to collaborate, both within the region and globally. The SouthWest, centred on Bristol and Bath but extending to Exeter and Plymouth, is one of the leading areas for innovation in the world with world class companies, universities and research labs, with strong clusters in silicon design, aerospace and creative industries. A recent report by the UK government's innovation group NESTA identified the region as key cluster for technology development. "Innovation is a global business, but it starts with one-to-one contact and that's mostly local," said Nick Flaherty, publisher and editor-in-chief. "That's how Silicon Valley became as strong as it has, but times have changed. Identifying opportunities through the news is a great way to stimulate opportunities and point them in the right direction for the assistance that is available in the region for ventures both small and large." The site is backed by founding sponsors SouthWest Microelectronics iNet and SiliconSouthWest. The iNets covering microelectronics, aerospace and advanced engineering, environmental technologies, biomedical and creative industries are officially launched today, and the Microelectronics iNet provides support for small and medium sized companies. SiliconSouthWest is the networking organisation for silicon design in the SouthWest. SW Innovation News is providing daily news on the innovation happening across the region, from silicon and software, through aerospace and advanced materials to medical and environmental technologies. "We are agile enough and experienced enough to look at what's happening right now and highlight the real opportunities," said Flaherty.
