A little dedication to the administrator of this amazing and crazy site
on his very special da
y-
:cean:

He is an Extraordinary person in an ordinary world,
He did something out of the way,
But in a good, well organized way.

He took up his own decision
And ventured on an entirely different path,
Although in the beginning a very few supported him,
He never lost hope, he never backed off.

He gave his best shot in everything he did,
Always making an effort to improve a little more,
He finally got up and took the lead.
The lead to bring all the Engineers across the world together,
To a better living, to a better purpose,
To a better tomorrow, to a lot better future..

Epicor® Congratulates Customers Permastore and Xtrac for Wins at The Manufacturer Awa

Posted: 25 Nov 2010 06:13 AM PST

Epicor Technology Cited as a Key Contributor to Permastore Quadrupling Order Values Over Five Years, with the Same Production and Staff Resources

IRVINE, Calif. and LONDON — November 25, 2010 — Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC), a leading provider of enterprise business software solutions for the midmarket and divisions of Global 1000 companies, is today extending its congratulations to Epicor customers, Permastore Limited, the leading silo and tank manufacturer with more than 90,000 structures in 110 countries, and Xtrac, a recognised designer and manufacturer of gearboxes, differentials and driveline components used throughout motorsport, who have won the IT in Manufacturing and Advanced Manufacturing awards respectively at The Manufacturer Awards 2010 final, which took place on November 18.

Permastore was awarded for implementing technology that directly affected the efficiency of the business and enabled a four-fold increase in output in the same production facility over a five year period. Xtrac took top honors in the Advanced Manufacturing category and, as well as being overall runner-up, was also shortlisted as a finalist for the Innovation and Design, Leadership and Strategy, and Best Small and Medium Enterprise awards.

"Consistently our customers are looking for competitive advantage and to produce the most innovative and high quality products for their customers, as efficiently as possible," said Matt Muldoon, vice president for product marketing at Epicor. "We're thrilled to see this recognised by such prestigious awards against very tough competition."

"We're absolutely delighted to receive these top awards," said Xtrac systems administrator, Mike Armstrong. "Our customers demand the very best, and we rely on technology to help us achieve this."

"This is an amazing recognition of our achievements as a business in investing in new technology across the company to improve processes and efficiency," said Simon Stevens, Business Systems and Development Manager at Permastore. "We've been working with Epicor for six years, and the company's software has been a key player in our achievements."

Permstore's Success Story
An Epicor customer since 2004, Permastore decided in late 2008 that it was time to upgrade to Epicor's next-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, Epicor 9, as its use of Epicor Vantage had reached a point where they felt no more could be achieved from the system in its current form. Originally the deployment team had estimated 2-3 months of the project would be taken up completing the data migration, but this was reduced to a mere 2-3 weeks through the use of Epicor's Data Management Tool (DMT).

At its heart, Epicor 9 has a business process management (BPM) engine that allows Permastore to define their unique process rules and procedures. Unlike some solutions that require this to be achieved through complex modifications, often at code level, Permastore can quickly and easily ensure that their systems mirror its 'real world' processes without relying on external consultants. Specifically, Permastore has already developed a BPM based solution for its process line, allowing production to view and manage work in progress on this key facility.

These changes, along with redesigned configurators, have had a significant impact on the performance of the business, cutting the total cost of ownership of the system as the internal team can implement new processes and features themselves. A reduction in the amount of time spent on database management tasks has also been seen, meaning that the team spends less time on administrative tasks and more on building on the new Epicor platform.

Stevens concludes, "Epicor 9 is a very flexible system. We can connect to factory machines, other software, and work in real-time with it using the DMT and Epicor Service Connect. Upgrades take time, but with careful planning and tools such as the DMT, you can reach go live quicker than you would expect. "

"Permastore is a company that really understands the value of embracing technology in its business and is reaping the rewards of its efforts," added Muldoon. "Epicor gives companies the freedom to run their business the way they want through business process management and tools such as Service Connect, rather than having to bend their business around the software."

Shortlist announced for the UKTI Business Innovation Awards 2010

Posted: 25 Nov 2010 03:21 AM PST

November 25th 2010 - The prestigious Business Innovation Awards 2010, which showcases the very best of UK innovation in science and technology, has announced the nine companies shortlisted for its three award categories – emerging &nano technology, energy & environment, and digital connected world.

Competing in the emerging &nano technology category are Applied NanoDetectors, which develops and supplies nanosensor-based products for the global environmental, healthcare and medical markets, Intrinsiq Materials – an advanced materials company developing technology for applications in health, wellness and printed electronics – and NanoSight, which designs and manufactures nanoparticle analysis instruments.

In the energy & environment shortlist are organic waste recycling specialist GENeco, Perceptive Engineering – a provider of intelligent monitoring and control systems for the process industries – and PhotonStar LED, a designer and manufacturer of award-winning LED illumination products.

The companies shortlisted for the digital connected world award are business continuity management technology developer Clearview Continuity, AEP Networks, which offers secure communications, networking and application access for governments, defence forces and enterprise businesses, and Electronic Media Services, an e-business technology developer.

The judging panel comprised David Bott, director of innovation programmes at the Technology Strategy Board, and David Sharp, UKTI sector specialist, science and innovation. Sharp said: "The Business Innovation Awards' shortlist is an ideal platform to bring credibility and greater awareness to new and evolving applications of science and technology. The entries included many exciting companies from across the UK that all demonstrate the high levels of knowledge and experience held by organisations based here."

An award ceremony and a gala dinner will be held during the Technology World in partnership with UK NanoForum event on 7 December at the Painted Hall, Old Royal Navy College, in London. Each winner will receive an engraved award and is able to promote its expertise and success on an international platform, reaching global influencers from across industry and government.

Commenting on his business' Materials & Devices category award win last year, Sandy Gordon, business development manager at Promethean Particles, said: "Being presented with the award at the event raised our profile at the show and definitely increased traffic to our exhibition stand. Post-event it has also enhanced our reputation with existing and prospective customers."

The award ceremony is open to UK exhibitors and delegates attending Technology World in partnership with UK NanoForum, which is hosted by the UKTI at London ExCel on December 7-8. The event – comprising 3,000 face-to-face meetings, an exhibition, Business Innovation Awards, a workshop programme and a conference featuring more than 60 speakers – has grown substantially since last year, when Technology World '09 and UK NanoForum '09 were separate events. It provides opportunities for business-to-business collaboration, ensuring that companies of all sizes from SMEs to large corporations have the chance to network and learn from both UK and international companies. Technology World in partnership with UK NanoForum is expected to generate £118 million of potential business transactions this year.

Question regarding IPV4.

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 10:49 PM PST

hello friend's,
I have some read about IPV4.In IPV4 protocol there is a basic header. That contains TOL(time to live bit indicator). It helps to detect the corruption of routing table by decreasing a variable.
So i think that there must be some facility by which we can also calculate the no of routers a datagram have to pass during it's transmission.
Anybody have idea that how to know how many routers our datagram have to cross during it's transmission to travel a data from a server to a client pc.

Is there any application that have the feature to show the no of routers that a datagram have to pass during it's transmission...?
