I m doing my B.tech in Instrumentation & Control engg( 1st year completed...) frm NIT-Trichy....I wanted to get started into my course frm dis summer vacations....so plz advise some basic standard books to startoff wid...i
would appreciate u posting the links to the ebooks,if any....

Electricity in Cars

Hello mates,

Just been thinking about it in the past few days and I wanted to share it with you so hopefully we can find a solution.

Is there anyway that we can produce a 220V electricity in a car (usually small cars are on a 12V battery)

it sound crazy, but there is nothing impossible.

In the metals you say that the fermi level is the highest occupied level. likewise in a semiconductor I need to know the significance of fermi level in it .Why is it assumed in the first place?.

Higher education: GRE/GATE/work exp?

Friends,

I have a little doubt. Now to be frank, My aggregate percentage is coming out to be 65%. I have completed III year mechanical engineering. I have one year left.

Now what to do? I have three options GATE/GRE or gaining work experience for a few years and the going for higher education.

Assume that I can crack GRE/TOEFEL like exams with decent score to get very good universities.

What would you suggest and why? Also give reasons. It is a very serious matter for me. :cean:

Power plant engg discussion

to all ceans, though we are electrical engineer and this subject seem to be related to mechanical ones but we are also going to place in power plants(NTPC,BHEL,etc)
so we must discuss this.
here i start discussing first thermal power plant then gas,hydro,diesel,nuclear. i only know these.please guys, share your knowledge also. for rest power plants i'm overjoyed to learn from you.
whereever you guys thing, the point need to be elaborated, write. if i know, i'll definitely elaborate.
