Speedo and Tacho

Speedometer reads speed of the vehicle, and Tachometer reads RPM of the vehicle. Why do we require two meters, though i feel both seems to be like same? Both tell speed of the vehicle. 1. in Mi/Hr or KM/Hr and others in rpm(revolutions per minute).

If you know one, you can calculate the other. Whats the exact use of using tachometer?

Motor for rotating platform

Hi everyone,

I'm working to build a tracker which has
load = 4 tonnes (evenly distributed mass)
radius = 10 m
with
max tangential speed = 1.029747 m/min
min tangential speed = 0.017453 m/min
The requirement is with precision 0.01°
The platform will rotate to track the sun and will be built on wheels for the rotation mechanism.
Now, i'm planning to choose a suitable motor or if needed gear for the application.

Could someone please help me with choosing the good rating of motor or if needed gear?
