Are Superstitions good enough?

Posted: 17 Apr 2011 10:22 AM PDT

We , TECHIES , people from modern era ,suppose us to be very logical and rational towards the things. Yet we have faiths and trusts whose reasons we cannot explain.Sometimes We do things which we cannot explain why are we doing. Being so much advanced , Being engineers we have superstitions.
Sachin Tendulkar has his own superstitions. The point is that everybody has some type of superstitions. I have mine. Most of the CEans will be suerstitious. I willnot ask you to tell but just want you to cogitate and have some words if superstitions are good enough.

How to write this trigger

Posted: 17 Apr 2011 09:01 AM PDT

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Hi ,

I am not much touch in database programming but have to include trigger for this following table in one of my subprograms so please can anyone suggest a solution for it
as I am days stuck on these for days and not able to get it .

customer(custno,custname,address)
order(orderno,total_cost,date_ordered,date_dispatc hed,date_paid,status)
orderline(orderno,prodno,quantity)
product(prodno,prodname,proddescr,unit_cost)

We have to write a rule/trigger to update total cost of an order when we change quantity in orderline table .

also we have another trigger to handle situation when product is removed from stock
it should follow two action as
1) update status field for any orders for that product to be seeking alternative products
2) Set the quantity values of orderline containing the product to null .

I would be thanful for the reply .

Bearings , pinion , counter shaft

Posted: 17 Apr 2011 08:08 AM PDT

I have problems in getting the concepts related to slow speed mill Pulverizers : Ball mill or tube/drum mill type. They are using reduction gear box single stage and has cooling coils of water to cool the oil. How will it be arranged and why do we need to make system bulkier?

2) I dont understand why do we need bearings? what are their types? And oil system also for bearing.
3) In the drum mill , they use counter shaft with pinion. It swayed away my head.
Why do we need this arrangement?

Please CEans help me out..

Some information about lung cancer

Posted: 17 Apr 2011 07:44 AM PDT

In a large study looking at over 85,000 people, smokers of menthol cigarettes - contrary to popular opinion - actually had a lower rate of developing and dying from lung cancer than non-menthol cigarette smokers. In this study, pack-a-day smokers who smoked menthol cigarettes were 12 times more likely to get lung cancer than non-smokers, as opposed to the non-menthol group who were 21 times more likely than non-smokers to develop the disease.
So why did we believe menthol was so deadly? The concern was based on a correlation. Black people are more likely to develop lung cancer. They are also more likely to smoke mentholated cigarettes. But in studies, correlation doesn't always imply cause.
Based on that theory we have even come up with reasons why mentholated cigarettes may be more dangerous. Perhaps it is harder to quit smoking for those who choose menthol (not so said this study). Perhaps the smoke from menthol cigarettes is inhaled more deeply into the lungs.
Of course, the real concern is smoking in the first place. And even if menthol cigarettes are not harder to quit and are not more dangerous, there are other concerns. It seems that it isn't only blacks that prefer the menthol variety. Our teens, whether black, white, or Hispanic, are also finding the menthol variety more appealing in recent years. And teen smoking is a huge concern.
