Technology Has Destroyed My Sleep! Posted: 07 Mar 2011 10:16 AM PST There are moments when I really hate technology and wish if we had never invented computers, mobile phones, tablets, Internet, television and so on. Technology advancements have turned me into a 'screenager'. I stare at some screen for most part of the day. It's so much a part of my life that I can't go to sleep without checking mails on my phone. I spend time reading stuff and also writing about it via VoiCE. The result is that my sleeping hours have reduced and I'm aware that it's not good for my health. Technology has destroyed my sleep  |
Posted: 07 Mar 2011 10:01 AM PST Many web developers are unaware of how SQL queries can be tampered with, and assume that an SQL query is a trusted command. It means that SQL queries are able to circumvent access controls, thereby bypassing standard authentication and authorization checks, and sometimes SQL queries even may allow access to host operating system level commands. Direct SQL Command Injection is a technique where an attacker creates or alters existing SQL commands to expose hidden data, or to override valuable ones, or even to execute dangerous system level commands on the database host. This is accomplished by the application taking user input and combining it with static parameters to build an SQL query. The following examples are based on true stories, unfortunately. Owing to the lack of input validation and connecting to the database on behalf of a superuser or the one who can create users, the attacker may create a superuser in your database. Posted: 07 Mar 2011 08:25 AM PST Pro and con dont just mean "for" and "against". That would be too easy. As prefixes, pro sometimes means "before" and con often means "with". Here are some pros and cons that show there's no arguing with the sheer variety of the English language. 1) protract(pro-'tract) v--- A: draw up a legal document B: stick out C: lengthen |
Problems Associated With Very Large Databases Posted: 07 Mar 2011 08:08 AM PST I'm looking for few inputs on typical problems associated with very large database systems. My knowledge of databases is very limited and that makes me feel that as the database systems grow from 1000s of records to millions and billions of records, there must be few common problems associated with maintaining and operating these databases. Is that true? If yes, what are those problems? |
Which Is The Toughest Programming Langauge ? Posted: 07 Mar 2011 07:55 AM PST  I am great fan of programming and some web designing! Which language is the toughest at this time ? Why do you feel? |

It will eventually be published in hardcopy, Kindle, etc., but they plan to make it available for free on the Web as well. You can see the book as it develops Here. Direct Link. |
Moscow's Crystal Island - Construction & Details Posted: 07 Mar 2011 05:33 AM PST Guys, this one is awesome!!! Not from Philippines though, but it is worth seeing... :) Moscow’s rapidly growing skyline will soon feature an eye-popping new addition: Crystal Island, which will be the world’s biggest building when completed. Sir Norman Foster’s mountainous 27 million square feet spiraling “city within a building” will cost $4 billion and it is scheduled to be built within next 5 years. The Crystal Island will be Lord Foster’s second large scale project in the Russian capital, and his third new building design that resembles a volcano (we’re talking about his two mountainous buildings in Astana, Kazakstan). Although many people are calling this design the ‘Christmas Tree’ of Moscow – we can’t help but be reminded of the utopian and also rather volcanic X-Seed 4000 design for Tokyo. Unlike that pipe-dream project, however, Foster has a track record of getting buildings built, so the likelihood is high that we will see this striking structure towering over the Kremlin within 5 years time. How to Apply for IBM Extreme Blue Cool Projects In India? Posted: 07 Mar 2011 03:34 AM PST The Extreme Blue program is IBM's premier internship program for top-notch students pursuing software development and MBA degrees. Once selected into the program, you will become part of a team working in one of the 15 Extreme Blue labs worldwide. Your team's challenge is to develop the technology and business plan for a new product or service that addresses an existing market challenge. Through the program, interns have submitted more than 400 patent disclosures and have made more than sixty open source contributions to the open source community. They helped create solutions for key clients and bring-to-market the next generation of IBM products. Not bad for just 12 weeks of work. If anybody knows how to apply for this internship program, please post here! :) I found an interesting video about it: It would be great to work on such a project this summer! |
Posted: 07 Mar 2011 03:33 AM PST A friend of mine who took the GRE exam on Feb 2011 had a score of 1000, whereas during the mock tests his score was 1300 and above. Verbal-300 Quants-700 Awa-3.5 He said that the verbal section was too tough to crack. He could get only 3-4 words from the Barrons. Do you think that the papers will get more tougher by the end of the old pattern? :| |

New Final Year Project Idea For Engineering Students: Automatic ON/OFF Street Lights Posted: 07 Mar 2011 02:49 AM PST The aim of this project would be to build a system that automatically turns ON the street lights when it's dark and automatically turns OFF the street lights when it's sufficiently bright. :) I am sure this is not a very new idea. But I don't think it's implemented in major cities across India. What might the reason be? Nevertheless, your project could be the new head-turner. |
North Korea jammed GPS signal in South Korea Posted: 07 Mar 2011 02:22 AM PST Last week, South Korea's capital region experienced disruption of GPS signals that caused malfunctioning of mobile phones. According to some reports, North Korea was behind all this. Communications officials could not say whether the North Korea was behind separate cyber attacks on government websites including that of the presidential Blue House and the Defense Ministry since Friday that slowed or disabled them for hours. If the North were responsible for either or both of the incidents, it could mark an escalation of tension between the rivals already high from two attacks on South Korean territory last year and ensuing exchange of threats of war and retaliation. North Korea was suspected of a massive wave of cyber attacks on U.S. and South Korean government and corporate websites in 2009. |
