Know Your CEan-Frooty

Posted: 24 Feb 2011 09:12 AM PST

Hello CEans,

We are back again here for you this time, presenting a CEan who has joined our CE family around a year before . she is one of the active CEans contributed valuable posts and help to ready everyone. It's none other than
Frooty

Read the following interview to know more about her.

Cooldudeiet:Hi
Frooty, you are a Crazy IT engineer, tell us more about yourself.

Frooty: Hi, I am an IT engineer from Maharashtra and currently working with leading IT firm in Testing platform. I have done few certifications in testing and worked in communication and banking domain.

Cooldudeiet: How did you get introduced to Crazy Engineers (CE)?
Frooty: I got introduced by one of the very well know CEan initially, that time never took it so seriously. Later on was searching for something and directed to CE and got what exactly I was searching for. Then I took a long look over it and attracted to join in within few hours. my life turns from that point in an out.

Cooldudeiet:Why did you take up this particular engineering trade? What do you like the most about it?
Frooty: Well I took it because my Dad said so. I wanted to do something related to Computers. Again my whole family is in engineering so was really interested in computer related part. My dad is having good command over the computer market and he said to go with IT rather than plain computer field. The syllabus and overall subjects offered in IT were good and so I choose to become an IT engineer.

Cooldudeiet:As a QA Analyst, which type of challenges you faced, and how much you satisfied Regarding Quality that is to be delivered?
Frooty:Ohh I can write an essay over this topic. I have been through so many such situations where real fight between quality and time was involved. Well to be clear, most and common challenge face by every tester in his life is Unrealistic schedule, Unclear Expectation, changing requirements, People communications at different level. I have gone through all this and learn a lot on how should be the approach of tester for such conditions. Thinking from end user's perspective and keeping "Break the application attitude" is what always needed. Finding major issues at early stage of release is really very effective.

Cooldudeiet:What is your favorite pass time?
Frooty:My fav are movies. I am total bollywood flick lover.I love watching romantic, emotional comedy, drama, horror, real facts,Adventure,Historical, musical,Animation, thrillers all types.I also love reading about it. I love 'love stories too. I follow Cean- Mayur Pathak ,ES-RaJ for love stories.I also enjoy novels, cooking and shopping also.

Cooldudeiet:Who are your idols or inspirations?
Frooty:Well my husband turns outs to be a very inspiring for me. I really appreciate him for all his work and effort he is putting in. I really looks up to him. My whole family is kind of inspiration for me. I admire them a lot.

Cooldudeiet:What is the biggest achievement in your life so far?
Frooty:Biggest achievement is yet to come for me. But I enjoy all the little joys in life and thinks they are some kind of achievements.
A lovely quote on this -
For beautiful eyes look for the good in others; for beautiful lips speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

Cooldudeiet:Where you find yourself before joining CE and after joining CE, Is there any difference in you?
Frooty: I found myself in different city with different job and in different house. Heehe..

The CE Quickies aka Rapid Fire:

1. Who are the best CEans according to you?
Frooty: Ash, ABKD , GodFather, Durga , Sahithi , Praveena, E-S ,Cooldudeiet , maria flor , K and many more..

2. If you are granted 3 wishes, what would you ask for?
Frooty: I will ask for :
1. Satisfaction.
2. Happiness.
3. Wealth.

3. If you were not an engineer, you would be?
Frooty: Lecturer.

4. Your biggest blooper till date is?
Frooty: When I got very less marks in math.:-|.
That was in my internal school exams and at the same time School annual function preparation was started. I was so involved in preparation of dance performance and took exam so lightly that it came as big time blooper for me (:( )and my mother is math lecturer in engineering college: P

5. A moment you can never forget.
Frooty: Actually many are there.
Few are :
1. I was University topper in final year of my engineering.
2. I got Employee of Month in my company during my first year only.
3. When I came to know that among 25 freshers I was the first one who got chance of flying Germany as an on site co-coordinator.

6. 5 years from now, you will?
Frooty:May be at some good position and place. :)

7:Why you have chosen Frooty as your name?
Frooty: My Classmate has given this name to me. They said I look very fresh all the time so the name - Frooty :)

8: What you like the most about CE/CEans?
Frooty: I like the enthusiasm the most. The latest discussion on board and the neatness of site.

Cooldudeiet:If you were a politician, what will your 5 year plan look like?
Frooty: I would rather keep away from being politician. But given a chance will at least try to make crime free country by setting some strict rules as it is in Dubai.

Cooldudeiet:What do you want to say about CE?
Frooty:CE is independent platform for all engineers and it helps a lot in career/professional growth. The concept of CE is itself a great idea and hope to see more on to it.

Thanks a lot Frooty..

We Wish you all the very best for your future :cean:

Evatronix and LeCroy Host a Webinar on SuperSpeed USB 3.0

Posted: 24 Feb 2011 08:16 AM PST

February 24th 2011- Evatronix SA, the leading provider of the USB-IF certified solutions for SuperSpeed USB 3.0 IP, and LeCroy Corporation, a worldwide leader in serial data test solutions have announced today the joint webinar on the key USB 3.0 feature – the actual performance of the highly popular standard. Since the main driver for development of the SuperSpeed USB interface was the significant increase of the theoretical data transfer speed – from 480 Mbps to 5 Gbps, both companies will leverage on their expertise and explain step by step how the different hardware and software layers affect the data transfer speed while providing actual measures.
The webinar will be focused on hardware and software overhead of the USB 3.0 interface and methods for proper data transfer speed validation. The practical example of a USB Mass Storage UAS application will be used to explain the impact of each of the USB layers on the performance of the interface, while the applied validation methodology will provide proper system evaluation.
"Now that we see more and more USB 3.0 applications in development, it is essential to provide designers with knowledge of what they can expect of this standard," said Dariusz Kaczmarczyk, USB Product Line Manager at Evatronix. "Our webinar will not only list the important issues users will face when designing their systems, but also provide highly credible data confirmed by close cooperation between Evatronix and LeCroy."
"We are pleased to collaborate with Evatronix to help educate the USB 3.0 market and accelerate the deployment of commercial products," said Roy Chestnut, Product Line Manager at LeCroy's Protocol Solutions Group. "Working directly with Evatronix has allowed LeCroy engineers to collect valuable insight into the verification challenges faced by developers working on USB Attached SCSI (UAS) devices and software."

Wordpress 3.1 Review

Posted: 24 Feb 2011 02:57 AM PST

Autmattic - the company behind wordpress, world's most popular blogging software has released the latest version 3.1. I immediately downloaded and installed the software to see what's new. Here's my short review of new features in Wordpress 3.1 -

1. Post Formats:

Wordpress finally introduced the 'Post Formats' - which is not like the 'Post Types'. This feature is not a 'must-have' but the theme designers can make good use of it to offer 'Tumblr' like experience.

Following are the supported post formats -

Quote:

aside - Typically styled without a title. Similar to a Facebook note update.

gallery - A gallery of images. Post will likely contain a gallery shortcode and will have image attachments.

link - A link to another site. Themes may wish to use the first <a href=””> tag in the post content as the external link for that post. An alternative approach could be if the post consists only of a URL, then that will be the URL and the title (post_title) will be the name attached to the anchor for it.

image - A single image. The first <img /> tag in the post could be considered the image. Alternatively, if the post consists only of a URL, that will be the image URL and the title of the post (post_title) will be the title attribute for the image.

quote - A quotation. Probably will contain a blockquote holding the quote content. Alternatively, the quote may be just the content, with the source/author being the title.

status - A short status update, similar to a Twitter status update.

video - A single video. The first <video /> tag or object/embed in the post content could be considered the video. Alternatively, if the post consists only of a URL, that will be the video URL. May also contain the video as an attachment to the post, if video support is enabled on the blog (like via a plugin).

audio - An audio file. Could be used for Podcasting.

chat - A chat transcript, like so
Source: Post Formats &#171; WordPress Codex

I'm currently going through this feature to understand more about it. However, it does look very interesting.

2. Easy Internal Linking:

Wordpress 3.1 makes it super easy to find and link to your related posts. This feature is going to be very useful to regular bloggers who often want to link their content internally. If you right-click on any word or a group of words, WordPress will automatically search for those words and find out related posts. You can then simply link to those posts with just a click.

3. Admin Bar:

The wordpress authors, editors and administrators now see an administration bar over their posts. This is a welcome feature and makes it easier to access the most commonly accessed sections of wordpress. Authors can easily approve new comments to their blog, edit a post, add widgets, plugins all while on the site's front page.

4. New Theme For Backend:

I like the refreshing new light blue theme on Wordpress admin panel. You can swich to any of the admin styles from the Personal Options setting under your settings tab.

Overall - Wordpress 3.1 takes the WP platform as a CMS to next level. I'm sure there more exciting stuff in next versions of WP!
