| Mechanical to electonics and design Posted: 17 Feb 2011 09:43 AM PST Hi everyone. I completed my b.tech mechanical engineering from VIT University. But now i want to learn electrical/electronics and become a solution provider and entrepreneur or a product designer (products that are not restricted to mechanical but involves electronics also. Like a robot, washing machine, speed detectors etc). Right now i am planning to take up M.Des which has a lot of compitition in india so i put mechatronics as my second option but im not very sure these couse willfulfill my inteests. | JK Lasers Release Mode Converter Fiber Coupler Posted: 17 Feb 2011 08:12 AM PST MCFC designed to provide increased Flexibility for Processing with JK Fiber Lasers The recently released Mode Converter Fiber Coupler (MCFC) has been developed to provide further flexibility to users of JK Fiber Laser products. The MCFC takes a Gaussian profile single mode fiber input from any of the JK Fiber Lasers and couples it into a JK Luminator fiber, allowing for the use of the full range of JK Fiber Lasers with established and industrially proven JK Luminator process tools. The output from the JK Luminator fiber has a uniform ‘flat-top’ beam profile and a beam diameter of 150-600µm depending on the configuration selected by the user. Focused spot sizes in the range of 60-1500µm can be selected by use of the appropriate JK Luminator™ process tools. Use of the MCFC can bring real processing advantages to welding applications where the profile and small spot size of the Gaussian beam are not optimal, such as butt welding parts with fit-up tolerances larger than the Gaussian spot size or thin foil welding, where high intensity on-axis can lead to burn through in the weld centres. Having a detachable output fiber, with JK Lasers’ Plug-In Pre-Aligned (PIPA) technology for rapid changeovers, allows the MCFC to offer increased versatility to the user from their JK Fiber Laser, at a fraction of the cost of a separate laser. | Extended VLAN features for IRIS 520/540 SHDSL EFM modems Posted: 17 Feb 2011 06:03 AM PST February 17th 2011 - DCombus IRIS 520/540 EFM SHDSL modems latest SW/FW version adds comprehensive VLAN configuration possibilities particularly for telecom operators and managed Ethernet service providers needs. Port based VLAN config includes features for VLAN double tagging (Q-in-Q) with selectable 0x8100 and 0x9100 Ethernet types. With the extended VLAN features and MTU (max Ethernet packet size) of 2047 enables even the most demanding operator applications. Added features also give more options in the IRIS modem management with VLAN, including the similar management usage to the famous DCombus Iris10/20 SHDSL modems. The generous VLAN properties are mandatory for telecom operator usage and gives added flexibility for other managed Ethernet broadband service providers. IRIS 520/540 SHDSL products are EFM (IEEE 802.3ah, Ethernet in the First Mile) modems for operator and managed Ethernet service providers' applications. They also comprise an interworking mode with ITU-T G.shdsl.bis allowing operators flexible and risk free upgrades into all-Ethernet based networks infra. The modems support extended transfer speeds for Ethernet over copper, max 60/60 Mbps using four copper twisted pairs. The latest SW/FW version images are user installable and downloadable for customers via MyDCombus at www.dcombus.com.
