I stumbled upon this update on Engadget -

Update: Well, this is a bit crazy. It was brought to our attention that the Tab cannot be charged via a laptop or desktop. And that is in fact the case -- when plugged into a USB socket the Tab will maintain its charge, but won't be recharged.

Just posting it here to make sure that the buyers are aware of it.

Samsung Galaxy Tab owners - help me with your own reviews of the battery life on the tab. I've been reading reviews that the battery life is impressive but not as impressive as that of Apple iPad. Few reviews mention that with the Wi-Fi on, the Galaxy Tab lasts for about 6.5 hours.

Does the battery life shorten after few months (weeks) usage? Share your views, please.

Lot of NOKIA enthusiasts were desperately waiting for E7 to launch in India. Finally, the phone has been launched in India at around 29k INR. The official price is not known yet but I've all the reasons to believe that this is an overpriced phone. On the good side, it's got a clear black AMOLED screen and 8 megapixel hi-def video recording camera. E7 is a business phone and has all the real time email features with active sync.

The eye-popping feature I notice in this phone is the presence of secure VPN (Virtual Private Network). Which means you can access your company's intranet if you have the sufficient user credentials to login. Typically not many business phones have this feature. The phone's got an impressive battery (1200 mAh) which would easily make this phone last for at least 3 days on regular usage.


As expected this 3G phone has all the regular features you'd expect in any smart phone including GPS, Bluetooh, Wi-fi, file reader and mail software. Again one innovative feature I notice is the presence of extra microphone that cancels the noise in real time to produce a clear sound output.

The price in India is around 29k INR, which I think is way too high for this phone. Do you think the price is justified? Share your opinion.

utility Meter

Dear Engineers;

I have attached a Power Meter, Digital Power Meter. I have installed it according to the diagram which came with it.I used transformers 300/5
After installing I realized it was counting wrong..I am consuming about 10Kwh (for example) it counts only 6 Kwh.
How can I measure if this meter works fine?
From where do I have to start!!!

Your Dream Company

We've had a similar discussion earlier, but then I thought of coming up with a thread which lists CEans dream company along with their engineering discipline. It could be any company. But let's make it interesting by adding a reason why your dream company is your dream company :)

I'll set the ball rolling ( I request you to follow this format to make it easier to read )-

BCCI- Blog Cricket Championship of India | Show us you are better than BCCI

Hello Ceans,

As Many of you know that we had already started Cricket Fantasy League Here on CE named CCFL.
now Me and our Cean Mayur Pathak has started the same Fantasy league and the link for that League is http://howzzthat.wordpress.com/.
As the Worldcup fever is ON around the worlds and this is the time to show that how much crazy you are for cricket so you have to create your own team for this game and take part.

Here is the Quick look for BCCI- Blog Cricket Championship of India.

Here we comes with the Rules that every Gamer has to follow.
  1. Each gamer must select 15 players in his team.
  2. Every team must have 5 Batsmen, 5 bowlers, 3 All-Rounders and 2wicket keepers.
  3. Each gamer can select maximum 3 players from one team, irrespective of whether they are batsmen, bowlers or keepers.
  4. Teams once submitted shall be freezed until the knock out rounds. Gamers will be allowed to reset their teams just before the knock out stage.
  5. Gamers will also be allowed to make two changes just before the finals as well.
  6. If the gamer substitutes the player before knock outs, the only new points scored by the player will be counted. However the points scored by the player who is being substituted will remain as it is. For ex. Gamer1 had Jesse Ryder as a batsman. In the round 1, Jesse scored 100 points. Now if gamer1 replaces Jesse Ryder from his team by Virender Sehwag, the 100 points scored by Jesse will remain included in the Gamer1 scoring. However Sehwag was on 200 points before being selected, those 200 points will not be included. Whatever points Sehwag scores after inclusion in the Gamer1′s team will be considered.
  7. Every Gamer have to submit their Team name, CE members can lock their teams by providing their unique user id.
  8. The leader board and individual gamer’s scoring will be updated every 3 days. Points table is given below.
  9. Last date for submission of teams is February 17th till midnight!
  10. Send your Team with Team Name tobcci.blogcricket@gmail.com or Post it as a Comment or You can Post it On CE also.
  11. Entry which is not following rules in the player selection will be discarded, Final decision will be of Organizers.
  12. For the list of the Player Please Click Here

Scoring Rules:
  1. 1 Point for every match played.
  2. 1 Point for every Run.
  3. 10 Points for every Wicket.
  4. 5 Points for every Catch.
  5. 10 Points for every Stumping.
  6. 5 Points for every Runout. (If it is by two players then 5 points to each player)
  7. 5 Points to every Players from the Winning Team.
  8. 10 Points for the Man of The Match.

Pallavi : Hi Madhu, you are a Crazy Computer Science engineer, tell us more about yourself.
Madhu : Hello CEans, my name is Madhu , I have completed my BE in Information Science and Engineering from G M institute of Technology , Davangere, Karnataka. Now I'm working as an T24 - Technical Consultant in TechMill Technologies Pvt ltd. I Loved to Help others. I always used to acquire the Knowledge and at the same time ,I like sharing my knowledge to others. I'm living on only one funda, "Help Others how much ever possible" .


Pallavi : How did you get introduced to CrazyEngineers (CE)?
Madhu : When I was in the 7th semester , I was searching for Seminar Topics , I found the link of the CE-forum.


Pallavi : Why did you take up this particular engineering trade? What do you like the most about it?
Madhu : When I was 8 years old, I saw computer first in my neighbors home, from that day my interest was increased towards computer, and I was questioned myself how computer was built, how it works, ..... these are things always triggering in mind. when I completed my Pre-university Education , I had many choice's , but I took computer science, because I'm passionate about computer science.


Pallavi : What is your favorite pass time?
Madhu : Sitting on my Laptop and Surfing. Exploring new things. Reading books. Playing EA-games.


Pallavi : In a few months, You are going to be a Good Entrepreneur. How you feel about yourself?
Madhu :I’m feeling good to Myself. And at the same time, I will become the more responsible person.


Pallavi : What made you start your own Company? Tell us something about it!
Madhu : Well , It was my Dream to own my Company., I’m going to open my company soon ,(Once I come back from Nepal to India). For this my dad is the inspiration. I was observing the way he is doing the business. I got motivated by him. And I have my own ideas to implement. And I thought this is a platform where I can help others. I have done so many projects for someone, then I thought why don’t I do the projects myself. Why don’t I convert my ideas about projects into a business. These things made me to start my own company. I’m very soon opening a company. - Its about Software services oriented company. (services like : Web development , Games , Multimedia Solutions, CBS – 3rd party Software interfaces.)


Pallavi : According to you, what is the difference between an Employer and an Entrepreneur?
Madhu : I would like to change your Question to Employees and Entrepreneur : According to me. I will never find a Difference between Employees and Entrepreneur . Because my wish and I always treats my employees as my friends , because Organization depends on Employees. If the Organization is good – that’s is because of Employees.
For your Question : According to me - Employer is the one who run’s business , manage Organzation. And Entrepreneur is the one – found the Organization .


Pallavi : If I ask you to give an advice for our Wanna be Entrepreneurs, what would you say?
Madhu : To become a Entrepreneur , it is easy just by opening a one company , to become a Successful entrepreneur you should have Vision about your company . That vision drives
You to become a successful Entrepreneur.


Pallavi : Heard that You are planning a venture for the Technical students, What is it?
Madhu : Yeah!!!! I’m designing a new Website for Students where they can find abundant resources about new technologies. www.tech-hub.in


Pallavi : Who are your idols or inspirations?
Madhu : My Dad is my idol , I learnt a lot from him , facing the challenges, handling the clients, managing the business.


Pallavi : Who's your all time favorite Entrepreneur and why?
Madhu : George Koukis -

1.7 million subscribers in India have opted for MNP

Latest reports from TRAI show that over 1.7 million subscribers in India (GSM+CDMA) have opted for MNP (mobile number portability) within just few weeks after launch. Over 229k requests were from Haryana where the MNP was launched first.

By any means, this is a large number. Do you think the Indian telecom companies aren't very good at customer service and price plans - which is leading to customers making the change?
