Posted: 28 Jan 2011 02:32 PM PST Hello all. I've recently got into doing small electronic work. Ive got some soldering experience and have done work with LEDS, resistors, capacitors, and transistors. Anyways, I would like to do a project with a microcontroller, a servo, sensor as well as some LEDS. However, there are so many different kinds of microcontrollers and i know basically nothing about them. I did some searching on the web and read some articles but its still clear as mud. Im hoping to keep things cheap and relatively simple as this is a simple project. any feedback is appreciated. |
Has India done enough to ensure equality of opportunity to its people? Posted: 28 Jan 2011 09:34 AM PST I chanced upon a rural family who at just arrived to begin a new life in the city. They were standing on the railway FOB begging for money from passersby. I was disturbed by their sheer lack of sense and inability. They looked from a decent background and not starvers. But still they were begging from complete strangers. But that also reminded me of the fact that there is still this India which lives in such a pathetic mentality. Guys, please ask yourself whether we have acheieved equality for all in terms of opportunity? |

Since every person fires queries in his/her own way its hard for search engines designers to find out what results should be given [...] More... |
Posted: 28 Jan 2011 08:46 AM PST Hello everyone..! I have a problem in my project, its a web application for collage students, it assigned a graduation projects to students; by offering many projects online, student login, selects many project he interested in ( he can choose up to six projects), after that doctor can see names of students who have chosen his project, doctor ranked them from 1-6 ( may less ) i want to match between student's choice and doctor's choice, and get best order. there is six choices for student, and also six choices for doctor, and we have many doctors and many students, the problem is: when student select a project as 1st choice, and doctor also select this student as 1st in that project then it is (1:1) , best match, the student gets the project. but in the other cases, what should we put first? (1:3) // doctor select student in 1st, student selects project in 3rd or (2:2) // student and doctor select 2nd so, whats come first? (1:3) or (2:2) there are some other cases. this is a similar problem: Stable roommates problem Stable roommates problem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[url] i tried to do this: - for any case, doctor choice comes higher than student's. but also in some cases i can't apply this, (e.g (3:3) and (1:6)doctor 1st, but student 6,comes before ) thanxx |

Is Teleportation Really Possible? Posted: 28 Jan 2011 05:40 AM PST Let me first define Teleportation: Teleportation is the transfer of matter from one point to another in ideally no time. Initially the attention towards teleportation was mainly dragged by Star Trek series. Everyone wondered if it could be practically possible. In the beginning scientist ignored this fact as they thought it would violate many laws [...] More... |

Should You Tell Your Manager/Boss/Employer About Your Startup In Stealth Mode? Posted: 28 Jan 2011 03:59 AM PST There are quite a few engineers who work on startups in their off-work hours using their own resources [email, computers, Internet etc.], while being full time employed. In such a case, what should be the strategy? Should you tell your manager, boss about the startup you're working on? In my opinion, as long as you're not in a competing business with your employer, there shouldn't be any problem. It'd also help to read out your company policies. I'd like to know views of engineers who're working on their own startups in part time. |

The e-Government National Awards 2010 winners announced Posted: 28 Jan 2011 03:45 AM PST January 2011 - The winners have been announced in the e-Government National Awards 2010, the UK's most closely watched public sector technology awards event. Congratulated via video link by the Prime Minister David Cameron, the country's top public sector technology experts, leading civil servants and government ministers gathered in the London Guildhall on the evening of Wednesday 26 January as the winners in eleven Awards categories were announced. These awards are totally independent, and recognise innovation and excellence among the UK's most effective services to improve citizen and business transaction with councils, central government departments and other public sector organisations. Addressing the guests, Prime Minister David Cameron said: "We want government to be more agile, more transparent, more open and accountable. That's the kind of transformation this government is about. And we're looking to you to help us achieve it. "Tonight's awards show clearly why you have put Britain at the forefront of e-government delivery in the world. We have the technology and skills, we have the innovation and crucially we have the people." Presenting the Awards personally on the night, Minister for the Cabinet Office, Francis Maude said: "Tonight's winners show why this country is at the very forefront of e-government delivery and as we push forward with our important modernising public services programme, digital technology will continue to play a crucial role in driving better services, while lowering costs. "The work we have already started with our Digital Champion, Martha Lane-Fox, has shown, for instance, that shifting services to digital channels can transform the relationship between Government and individuals improving service delivery and making them more convenient to use. It is that rare example of a win-win situation. "I would like to congratulate everyone who has taken part for their hard work, skill and imagination. Tonight clearly demonstrates enormous progress and it's this kind of progress we are committed to maintaining so we can continue to develop the services that this country needs and deserves." Awards judge and head of Government IT Advisory at KPMG Keith Bannister said: "We are delighted to offer our continuing support to these Awards which have an important role to play in highlighting the innovative use of technology within the public sector, particularly at a time when it is under increased pressure to perform. From the development of a sustainable green IT project, as demonstrated by Queen Margaret University to the building of a fairer society at Ealing Mencap, there are many examples of how technology can support the UK's progress in these important areas." e-Government National Awards 2010 results: Winners and Highly Commended 1.
