Improve BSNL 3G Download Speeds On Windows & uBuntu

Posted: 24 Jan 2011 10:17 AM PST

I've seen steep decrease in download speeds I experience using BSNL 3D Data Card. I even wrote a review of the speeds on VoiCE: BSNL 3G Review: USB Data Modem Speed | Performance - CrazyEngineers and http://www.crazyengineers.com/forum/...nreliable.html

I'm unable to tell whether the choice of operating system has any effect on the download speed. Logically, OS shouldn't affect the speed, but I have experienced better download speeds on uBuntu than on Windows 7.

If anyone's got tips for increasing BSNL 3G Download speeds, please share them in this thread.

Problem in CRC

Posted: 24 Jan 2011 10:12 AM PST

Hello ppl,
I have a problem regarding CRC codes. I understood that we have a k bit dataword and n bit codeword and n=k+r where r is the number of zeros augmented to dataword to make it a codeword. By looking at some examples i got that r, i.e. number of zeros, is minus one of divisor. If divisor consist of 4 digits then we augment 3 zeros to dataword. But i am not able to get the logic behind it. Can anyone explain it to me?

power kites

Anyone into power kites? I'm thinking of getting a 3 meter training kite to learn to fly them then start getting into scudding and using a land board. I'd also like to learn to kite surf possibly as well.

Current sensor for DC motor

Posted: 24 Jan 2011 06:45 AM PST

Hello All,
I am looking for current sensor to measure the consumed current by DC motor by using data acquisition card. I was thinking to use small resistance or Hall effect current sensor. My motor details are:
Nominal voltage= 42V,
Starting current = 20.3A
max. continuous current = 1.95A

The data acquisition card acquires max. voltage for +/-10V

My question are:
1- What is the best (using small resistance or using hall effect current sensor)?
2- Should I consider that maximum current is the starting current or max. continuous current before selecting the sensor?

Many thanks.

A fun quiz for you. :)

Posted: 24 Jan 2011 05:32 AM PST

Hiya CEans :D

here is one simple quiz for you. :) i had set these for a club activity in my college. now you guys try to answer these questions :D

1. "Water is the symbol of life and wealth, and the inward motion of the water symbolizes the retention of wealth"

This is the principle with which a beautiful structure has been built. Name this civil engineering wonder and also what this and its surrounding signify symbolically as a single entity.

2. Guess who these two people in the first pic are.

hint: the two are related to civil engineering and architecture fields respectively. there can be no civil engineering student without knowing the name of the first person. so ask your civil engineering friends. :D the second has built the structure which every one here must be knowing :)

3. Identify the structure shown in second picture.

Hint: Walls of stone will stand upstream to the west
To hold back Wushan's clouds and rain
Till a smooth lake rises in the narrow gorges

4. Is this easy?
Which city's sky line is this?

5. This is the floor plan of a very famous structure. Guess it.

6. This stamp features which bridge?

7. Which award did this structure receive?

8. The logo of this company signifies that it has every thing A-Z and thus brings a smile on the customers' face.

Which company is it?

think think
put down your answers here in this thread and we can discuss it :)

cheers!
