vehicle anti collision system by distance monitoring Posted: 20 Jan 2011 09:49 AM PST My fyp title will be as shown above. Currently I'm still figuring out what kind of system to be used for my project. The idea seems really simple; at a certain speed, let say the rear vehicle is tailgating the front car at 100km/h and the distance between them is just a few meters, the system will triggered a warning system (by LED) that will warn the rear driver he is driving at a dangerous distance. The safe distance determine by system will vary according to the speed of the car. If the car is traveling at lower speed ( <50 km/h), the safe distance can be closer compared to >100km/h speed>100km/h distance between car>> speed<100 km/h distance between car<< i really need help, ideas from u guys..thank you very much |

Overhead Cranes Build Next Generation London Overground Trains Posted: 20 Jan 2011 04:13 AM PST January 20th 2011 - Street Crane Company is playing a vital role at Bombardier's Derby factory in the building of new trains to revitalise the capital's commuter services. Two new overhead cranes from Street are used in the final assembly of new Electrostaroverground trains programme, contributing to the safety and productivity of the production operations. "Bombardier's demanding brief required advanced factory cranes to ensure safe, continuous and flexible working in an intensive 24/7 production environment," explained Street Crane sales director Gus Zona. Two identical cranes of 20 tonne safe working load have been installed. Twin ZX series ten-tonne hoists are fitted to both cranes, for maximum flexibility. The cranes can be used independently during the assembly of the carriages, but are designed for tandem operation when lifting and moving complete vehicle bodies. All travel motions are under inverter control. This ensures safe acceleration and deceleration, load stability and provides precision low speed final placement. The cranes can transport loads at speeds of 40 metres/min in long travel down the 180 metre long workshop. Cross travel speeds of 20 metres per minute can be obtained and hoist speeds of up to four metres/min. Audible alarms warn of crane advance as they move up the workshop. Anti collision devices provide an additional safeguard when the two cranes are operated independently. For tandem crane lifts and transportation a unified radio-based control system is used to ensure the complete synchronisation of all movements. Many of the Bombardier Electrostar trains have already been delivered and will service the London Overground to the north and east of the capital. Bombardier's Derby factory is working a three shift system to complete the order. Should Wikipedia Display Ads Instead Of Relying On Donations? Posted: 20 Jan 2011 03:54 AM PST I wrote an article on VoiCE : "Advertising On Wikipedia" Jimmy Wales Never Said Never - CrazyEngineers and thought of starting a debate to see what CEans think about the topic. With the reach of Wikipedia a single leaderboard on the top would earn Wikipedia about $100 million every year. That money can go into running Wikipedia and even giving it to charity. Do you think Wikipedia should display advertisements on the site [not too many, just a banner at the top] and give the profits to the charity? Have your say in this thread. |
