Looking for help on high current measurement

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 01:07 PM PST

Dear Team,

I saw your forum, its great. I am looking for a way to measure the welding current in a Spot Welding machine.

Its max current can go upto 45 KA and this current will flow for an instant (fraction of a second).

Can you please suggest some best possible way? :)

Thanks in advance.

Question about measuring power dissipation

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 09:03 AM PST

Hello guys. First time posting.

I am using a single pole double throw switch IC for switching applications (part number ADG436) for battery powered applications. I am trying to measure the power dissipation for this device, and did it by simply just connecting the power supply to the VDD and GND and using an ammeter to measure the current on it. However, no values came up on the ammmeter. Isn't this the way to go in measuring power dissipation?

Or since this is a switch IC, should I be measuring the source and drain terminals instead?
Also, do you guys think power dissipation of the chip itself will change if I use a virtual ground setup to set up a +/- voltage rail using a single supply for this chip?

Thanks for all your help.
Feel free to leave comments and/or suggestions!

Google Goggles

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 06:53 AM PST

Our favorite weekend distraction is a quiet 15 minutes spent solving a Sudoku puzzle. But even that can be an frustrating experience if (like us) you make a mistake and are unable to solve the puzzle. Now, Goggles on Android and iPhone can recognize puzzles and provide answers to help make you faster than a Sudoku champ. So if you ever get stuck, take a clear picture of the entire puzzle with Goggles and we'll tell you the correct solution. Check out this video to see how it works.
