What is front-end , back end design in VLSI ?

Posted: 05 Jan 2011 02:45 AM PST

1)What is the meaning of front end & back end design in VLSI ?....Which has more demand in industry ?

2)What are the steps in VLSI product development ? Which is the most crucial step ?

3)What is the job of verification engineer in VLSI industry ?

4)Which step needs coding skills & which does not?

5)What is expected from a fresher in VLSI industry?

Marshalling box in a transformer

can someone please elaborate about marshalling box in a transformer?
it is having RTD(or thermocouples) for measurement of oil and winding temperatue only or something else also?

Low cost efficient water level detector switch

Posted: 04 Jan 2011 07:40 PM PST

i was in my friends village bfore a few days n i noticed that there is a serious problem wid the farmers i.e they wake up at night every now and den to check the water put in their farms. so i wanted to make a simple low cost efficient water level detector swith which could detect the level of the water in the farms and switch off the motor pump when it reaches the desired level. i wanted some ideas for it. sh i use pic 555 ic or some other implementation. pl help.

Generator Overvoltage Relay (59 G)

Generator Overvoltage Relay (59 G)

Overvoltage shouldn't occur on a generator fitted with an automatic voltage regulator. Overvoltage may be caused by defective operation of the voltage regulator under isolated operation of the generator. The relay detects the over excitation of generators and transformers by measuring the over voltage.

Data for setting calculation
Generator Voltage------------------------------------19000 V
VT turns ratio ----------------------------------------19000 / 100 V = 190
The max. permissible voltage for continuous load operation --- 105 %
The max. permissible voltage for no-load operation -------------- 110 %
The max. permissible transient overvoltage ------------------------ 120 %

Relay Setting

1- Setting Conditions
The trip pickup is intended for moderate overvoltage of long duration.
Pickup < The max. Permissible transient overvoltage .
= 19000 / 190 * 1.20
= 120 V
