| Rohde & Schwarz UK supplies vector network analyser to test waveguide components to 5 Posted: 14 Dec 2010 03:24 AM PST Fleet, UK, December 9, 2010 - Rohde& Schwarz delivers millimeter wave test equipment to Flann Microwave (Bodmin, UK), a leading supplier of waveguide components and systems used in research, communications, radar and security applications. Flann acquired the 50 GHz R&S ZVA vector network analyser in June, subsequently taking delivery of millimeter-wave converter heads that enable the company to test to 220 GHz. This represents the highest frequency test capability known within any UK commercial company to date. Flann's waveguide portfolio stretches from low frequency waveguides in the 1 GHz range to high frequency devices in the 220 GHz region and beyond. The latter are used by customers involved in microwave standardisation and also for the calibration of high frequency vector network analysers. The vector network analyser from Rohde & Schwarz significantly expands Flann Microwave's test capability, facilitating the design, measurement and verification of the company's wide range of waveguide components. With converter heads available to 500 GHz, Rohde & Schwarz' products enable Flann to respond to a growing demand for products and systems at higher frequencies, including VNA calibration and verification kits up to 500 GHz. Commented Ian Crane, Chief Technical Officer at Flann Microwave: "Expanding our test capability to 500 GHz gives us a distinct commercial edge. We are already seeing enquiries for high frequency applications driven by news of our advanced test set-up." "We are delighted to have been selected by Flann Microwave to help establish their high frequency test capability", said Steve Edwards, T&M Sales Manager at Rohde & Schwarz UK. He added: "The millimeter application area is an exciting growth opportunity for Rohde & Schwarz and we plan to continue to expand our product offerings at these frequencies." Among Flann Microwave's key requirements were high dynamic range and the ability to provide continuous frequency coverage up to 220 GHz and above. The R&S ZVA vector network analyzer portfolio was designed to meet demanding measurement applications, including filter measurements requiring a high dynamic range. Their waveguide heads cover an exceptionally wide frequency range, whilst the R&S ZVA vector network analyser gives customers the flexibility to operate it outside standard specified frequency ranges when necessary. Noted Jamie Lunn, Vector Network Analyser Product Manager at Rohde & Schwarz UK: "The wide dynamic range of the R&S ZVA combined with low phase noise provides ample headroom for devices that would previously have been difficult to gain measurement insight into, such as Flann Microwave's 500 GHz Rotary Vane Attenuator, which requires measurements to be made down to -100 dB." Highly integrated, the R&S ZVA vector network analyzer is a single box solution that is offered with a particularly wide range of frequency converters that are manufactured by Rohde & Schwarz in-house. This ensures that the converter heads are optimised to suit Rohde & Schwarz instrumentation, whilst customers benefit from a one-stop solution for purchase, servicing and support. | Colosseum 2010 Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Sciences- 18-19 Dec 2010 Posted: 14 Dec 2010 02:53 AM PST The Colosseum - the greatest amphitheatre of the antiquity - was built in Rome, Italy, about 1920 years ago. It is considered an architectural and engineering wonder, and remains as a standing proof of both the grandeur and the cruelty of the Roman world. After the splendour of imperial times, the Colosseum was abandoned, and in turn it became a fortress for the medieval clans of the city, a source of building materials, a picturesque scenery for painters, a place of Christian worship. Today it is a challenge for the archaeologists and a scenario for events and shows. The department of civil engineering is proud to announce the national level Technical symposium. The symposium is hosted keeping in mind the demands of the present day competitive world. The symposium aims not only at creative and enthusiastic zeal in the students about different trends and developments in the field of civil engineering, but also providing a platform for the budding civil engineering talent from different parts of the country to interact, discuss and compare their knowledge with that of their peers. Events at Colosseum 2010 are: Technical Quiz Paper Presentation Poster presentation Problem solving Cube testing Model Making For more information visit their official website here: KITSCOLOSSEUM-HOME |

| Wipro to Pay Rs. 40,000 as referral bonus Posted: 13 Dec 2010 10:52 PM PST With the fierce competition between the top Indian IT companies to attract talent; companies are offering greater incentives to employees. Wipro has hiked the referral bonus from Rs.20,000 to Rs. 40,000 per referral. However, it's not known this bonus applies to which hierarchy levels. Wipro employees reading this, please let us know the details :) However, this incentive is still far lesser than what the companies pay to the recruitment agencies which is at least 33% of the total CTC of the hired employee. What say you, people? |
| Infosys CEO Kris GopalaKrishnan Warns About Another Global Recession Posted: 13 Dec 2010 10:42 PM PST Infosys CEO, Mr. K. Gopalakrishnan has warned that there might be another 2008 like recession. In 2008, collapse of a bank kickstarted domino effect and got many other dependent businesses fail over a short period of time. This time, it could start somewhere in Europe. But it won't be a business but a nation that could fail and may lead to a similar domino effect. On the UK government's decision to fix a cap on the number of visas issued to skilled workers from India and other countries from April, he sounded non-critical, pointing to the high unemployment rate in that country, and said he was not surprised by the move. Do you agree with Mr. Gopalakrishnan? Share your opinion. |
