Wikipedia is World's 5th most popular website and has over 400 million users. Running such a huge site is not an easy task and on the top of it, if it's not commercial, things can go worse any time.

Wikipedia runs on donations made by generous people all over the world. Whenever the site runs out of money, Mr. Jimmy Wales (founder of Wikipedia) makes an appeal to the world to donate to the site and people literally donate millions of dollars to the site.

Now, like any other web property, Wikipedia too can survive with the display of advertisements. But would you like it that way?

Would you be disappointed and if Wikipedia displayed relevant advertisements long with the content and even came up with a business model to pay to its editors?

Need Suggestions For A Pre-Final Project!

I am a computer engineering student [3rd yr], am assigned to do a project on microprocessors or microcontrollers.
Kindly suggest me any project, using microcontrollers [i prefer] which is neither too easy nor too difficult.

Fix: Macbook Shutdown Problem

If your Macbook is showing no sign of shut down, and just shows a spinning wheel against blue screen, here's a quick way to fix it-

Turn on the power supply (important step)
1. Press Fn + C
2. Press and hold the turn on button for at least 5 seconds.

Your Macbook will hard reset.

We launched CrazyEngineers Forum RSS subscription few days ago. The mail delivery is handled by Google's Feedburner service.

I'm sure many of you have already subscribed to it and have activated it (without activation, you won't receive updates in mail). I wish to know whether you're seeing too many ads or it's just alright?

Firefox Optimization Tips & Tricks with "about:config"

Here's a way to quickly speed up your favorite firefox browser by Moving Firefox Cache to RAM -

  1. Open firefox and type the following in address bar: about:config
  2. In the filter bar, type: browser.cache.disk.enable
  3. Double click on it to set it to: 'false'
  4. Similarly, find: browser.cache.memory.enable and set it to true. Could be already set in your browser.
  5. Now right click anywhere on the firefox screen and select: New -> Integer. Enter the memory size in KB you wish to allot to the cache.
  6. Set it to -1 if you wish Firefox to allot memory dynamically, depending on the RAM your system has.
Note: This method may slow down few plugins and slower first visits to sites for speedy revisits.

Xceed, the nationwide robotics and quiz challenge, is back, this time bigger than ever. The event, which has transcended geopolitical boundaries to bridge the knowledge gap by reaching out to the participants across the country, will be conducted this time in four cities - Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Tanjore. Xceed Robotics will happen in all four venues and the Xceed Biz-Quiz will be conducted in Bangalore and Hyderabad. Apart from winning tens of thousands of rupees as prize money at each venue, the winners will get a chance to face off against some of the best minds in the nation at the grand finale held during Kurukshetra! Get ready! We are coming to give you a taste of what Kurukshetra has to offer.

This year XCEED is to kick start in Bangalore on the 5th of December. Among the events lined up for XCEED are the K!onstructor and the Line Tracer.
