KBC Season 4: Greedy Prashant Batar Loses 1 Crore Posted: 09 Nov 2010 08:25 AM PST Greed is bad and that was demonstrated that greed is bad, and also, don't listen to your heart. Your 'Brain' gives you the right answer. In the KBC Episode telecasted on 09 November 2010; Prashant Batar paved his way to Rs. 1 crore (Rs. 1,00,00,000) and then went for the question to win 5 Crore. While everyone was advising him to quit, he decided to follow his heart and played the game. He used is only lifeline left (Double flip: Can guess two answers) and ultimately chose the wrong answer. This proves beyond doubt that Greed Is Bad! |
Transient Analyses of Multi-loop Cooling Systems Posted: 09 Nov 2010 08:17 AM PST Does anyone perform transient analyses on multi-loop cooling systems? I've just signed-up for this webinar next week and thought I'd share it with the group. I'm also interested in hearing what these folks have to say about future capabilities for simulation. "Simulating Cooling Systems for Efficient Design" This educational session will discuss the use of system-level simulation on liquid cooling systems to address key design considerations and common challenges in power generation, plant and process industries. https://flowmaster.webex.com/flowmas...2&RT=MiM3&FM=1 |

BSNL 3G Speed Review: Speedy But Unreliable Posted: 09 Nov 2010 07:28 AM PST So, finally I got my 3G data card from BSNL with the offer: The device costs Rs. 2000 and the data plan is Rs. 700/month (6 months advance payment required). I've been using it for the past few days and found out that the service is reliable. I could get download speeds upto 200kbps (FTP download). After using the service for about a month, here are my observations - 1. The software load time is more than what you'd expect. It takes my device about 30 seconds from being recognized to being ready for connection. 2. The service is not available in all parts of the country. Yes, it's available in bigger cities but it'll take some time for the service to be fully available in all tire II and III cities. 3. The signal frequently fluctuates between 2-5 bars, depending upon your location. However, I noticed that it keeps on changing at intervals even when you're not moving. 4. The services disconnects :( at random. Well, I'd not say it's bad, but it gets disconnected once in every 5 sessions. 5. The services goes 'idle' many times, but recovers within seconds. This is really frustrating when it comes to browsing. You type the URL and wait for few seconds...then the signal comes in and the page loads in a jiffy. 6. The browsing speed is around 300kbps - more than required. 7. YouTube videos stream like dream . 8. Upload speeds are better than broadband. I got about 70 kbps upload speed! Given the price, I think BSNL 3G is worth the price! |

ANSYS quite slow as compare with MATLAB, how to turn off its graphic display? Posted: 09 Nov 2010 12:15 AM PST Dear all, I am a newbie in ANSYS. I hope you are more familiar with ANSYS. So I wonder do you have any solution for the ANSYS problem that I have now. In my case (1500 load steps for SDOF dynamic analysis), the processing time in ANSYS seems to be so much slow as compare to MATLAB. ANSYS takes more than 10 minutes while MATLAB needs only a fraction of second. The reasons might be ANSYS has to display all information at every load steps, both by text in Command Prompt screen also by graphics in the main screen. I have taken so much time to look for the tips to turn off the interactive mode, turn off the temporary results graphic display, or to put the ANSYS run in the most priority mode, but I fail so far. There have no such tips for that purpose. Even that if I set the ANSYS processes to the Real time mode in Window Task Manager, my CPU usage is still about 20% when ANSYS run, and its speed is quite slow. So if you know how to speed ANSYS up, please let me know. Thank you so much!!!! P.S: My platform is (laptop) Intel Core 2 Duo 2x2GHz, 2GB DDR3, 320 GB HDD, MS Window XP SP3, Matlab R2008a, ANSYS R11. |
