Any evidence to show 'Pushing' leads to warming - 'Pulling' leads to cooling?

Posted: 27 Oct 2010 01:20 PM PDT

Is there any evidence to show that Pushing something, warms it? Surely, if you Push something, and keep pushing, isn't there going to be some Compression, and some Compaction as well as Filling it with Potential Energy? Are these not warming effects?

And if you Pull something, and keep pulling, isn't it possible you might pull it apart, or Decompress it and Expand it? Wouldn't this lead to Cooling?

There must be an answer, either yes or no, So can anyone Help?

Connecting with your Global market at Technology World in partnership with UK NanoFor

Posted: 27 Oct 2010 07:53 AM PDT

October 27 2010 - Some £118 million of potential business transactions are expected to be generated at the inaugural Technology World in partnership with UK NanoForum event at London ExCeL this December (7-8th). The event – hosted by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) – delivers three conference programmes and 60 top-line speakers and showcases the best of UK science and technology to a global audience.

The event will provide businesses, organisations and academia with the opportunity to present their products, solutions and knowledge to an unrivalled international audience. With more than 2,000 industry professionals from 750 companies are expected to attend, the UKTI anticipates that some 3,000 meetings will take place at the venue – equating to about 175 meetings every hour.

Lasting two days, Technology World in partnership with UK NanoForum 2010 includes face-to-face meetings, an exhibition, awards and a seminar and workshop programme. It has grown substantially since last year – when Technology World '09 and UK NanoForum '09 were separate events.

"With the highest proportion of eHQs, ICT-related jobs and technology universities, the UK has a lot to offer the global market place," comments David Sharp, Sector Specialist Science and Innovation at UKTI. "In order to protect that unique position and to ensure we stay at the forefront of technological developments, it is imperative that we find ways to foster international relationships. This event is the perfect vehicle for that."

Also critical to retaining the UK's reputation as a world-leading research base (currently second only to the USA) is continued focus on emerging technologies and their commercialisation, not just here in the UK but Internationally, something that previous NanoForum events have been key in supporting. This focus will continue at the combined event, with showcases for emerging technologies and University research and University Excellence Awards.

"We often see examples of collaboration between UK businesses and academia, what we need to ensure is that those collaborations are as prolific on an international scale as they are here in the UK," continues Sharp. "It will be global meeting places such as this year's Technology World in partnership with UK NanoForum that will be critical to making that a reality."

The event provides opportunities for business-to-business collaboration, ensuring that companies of all sizes from SMEs to large corporations have the chance to network and learn from each other.

A 'Business Partnering Opportunities' section forms part of Day 1 along with a series of 'Technology Pitches' on Day 1 and 2, where SME's can present their ideas to potential investors.

For more information on the event and to find out how you and your company or organisation can be part of Technology World in partnership with UK NanoForum 2010 visit http://www.technologyworld.uk.com.

SpineBreakers: New Social Network for Bookworms

Posted: 27 Oct 2010 07:44 AM PDT

Penguin is launching a social network for book addicts called 'SpineBreakers' :p

Spinebreakers already exists as a content website.
But it does not have any tools which allow its users to communicate and interact about their shared interests.

Instead, it is sort of a blog where teenagers write about books and authors.
Have a look at their website: Teen Books - Spinebreakers

New Yahoo Mail Beta Review And How To Activate It

Posted: 27 Oct 2010 07:16 AM PDT

The Titanic called Yahoo is doing what it should have done years ago when Google was trying to launch Gmail - that's my initial reaction after looking at the new Yahoo Mail Beta. If you are not aware of this - here's a news for you: Yahoo has silently launched the beta version of Yahoo Mail and I admit it's heck better than the old yahoo mail and also, I dare say, Gmail (my personal opinion).

Let's look at the improvements in Yahoo Mail Beta -

1. Color Scheme:
The first thing you'll notice in the new Yahoo mail is that it's got a purple color scheme. I'm not sure whether the company will allow people to change it, but I personally think it looks awesome. I love the color and the overall interface looks very pleasing to eyes. I must say Yahoo's put in lot of efforts in improving the look of the UI.

Attachment 13

2. Speed:
Finally, Yahoo's learned from Google that people love speed. The new Yahoo mail (actually!) loads faster than the previous version of Yahoo mail. I could notice the difference. The company claims that the performance has improved two folds and everything from mailbox to the emails load two times faster. I'm not sure about the claim, but the mailbox indeed loads faster.

3. Functionality:
I don't use Yahoo mail quite often. So I can't really comment on what are the big changes. But from what I see, it looks like Yahoo's made it possible to view YouTube videos, Picasa and Flickr slideshows, and other items right in the messages. Quite useful feature I must say.

4. Integrated Messenger:
This is not exactly a new feature, however the messenger looks really sophisticated and useful. I like the new look and speed. One thing I noticed is that, I must manually sign in to chat in the new beta to be visible to all the contact lists. Useful feature when I don't want people to ping me whenever I'm in the middle of some important task/mail.

5. Want to try it on your own?
Hit the following link and login to Yahoo mailbox using your Y! UserID & Password: http://us.mg.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch

My opinion:
Even though I don't use Yahoo Mail Beta, I love it! I think Yahoo should have done it few years ago to prevent Gmail stealing its lunch. Anyway, better late than never. Yahoo's done a good job. I hope it will help Yahoo retain its mail users. By the way, Yahoo mail is still the second biggest email provider in the world, the first one being Hotmail aka Live Mail.

Your Opinion:
Why not try Yahoo Mail beta and post your experience?

iBall i630MV Headphone Reviews & Price

Posted: 27 Oct 2010 03:50 AM PDT

I needed a simple headphone and the shopkeeper pointed me to this device. iBall is a well known brand in India and since I prefer headphones over earphones, I decided to buy it. It cost me Rs. 340/- but the second choice available was of a local brand headphone, for Just Rs. 170/-

Attachment 12

First Impression:
The headphone's got nice looks! The plastic body makes this phone a very lightweight headphone so that you don't feel like you've a monkey sitting on your head ( What the heck am I writing?!) This device wins in the looks! The body is plastic-silver in color with iBall logo on both sides and vents for air to keep the speakers cool.

Comfort:
This headphone is very comfortable to wear. As against other headphones, this headphone won't hurt your ears even after 2 hours of continuous use. The cushion padding around the speakers is fine.

Chord:
The length of the chord is around 6ft, sufficiently long enough to give you mobility if you've connected it to the desktop/laptop. The chord ends with two separate jacks for headphones(black) and microphone (pink).

Headphone: The chord has a volume control wheel as well as the microphone. The microphone just works okay. I'd have been happier if the chord had a clip so that I could attach it to my shirt and prevent the mike from wobbling.

Audio Quality:
I used Cowon Jet Audio Basic in Windows Vista. I'm impressed by the audio quality I got from this headset. The beats were crisp and clear and I could clearly listen to the changes I made to the graphic band equalizer. I tried setting the volume to Max on the music player, Windows sound and the headphones as well, however the actual sound never crossed unbearable limits. Very impressive, I must say! The audio is of course sufficiently loud.

Technical Specifications:

Quote:

Features: Crystal clear sound

Can be used with PC, Laptop, DVD, Music System, FM Radio, MP3/MP4 Players etc.
