Hey,
I just want to suggest this idea!
How about having podcast facility on crazyengineers. By creating a podcast, you are not only making CE more enjoyable site, but also making sure that your members hear from you on a regular basis.

PS: What is Podcast?
A podcast (or non-streamed webcast) is a series of digital media files (either audio or video) that are released episodically and often downloaded through web syndication. The word usurped webcast in common vernacular, due to rising popularity of the iPod and the innovation of web feeds. ....read more.

Spice QT-56 Dual SIM (GSM/CDMA) Reviews & Price In India

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 08:47 AM PDT

Spice telecom has launched Full QWERTY Keyboard, QT-56. Let's look at the key features this phone has and whether the phone is worth the price.

Spice telecom is foraying into the Indian mobile market with a vigor. The company has launched Spice QT 56 model that has full QWERTY keypad along with -

Attachment 5Flexi DUAL (GSM/CDMA+GSM)
Many phones have GSM/GSM option or CDMA/CDMA option. However, it is a great advantage to have GSM/CDMA option. Supported: GSM 900/1800, CDMA 800

DATA on CDMA
You can enjoy faster downloads on your mobile and surf various sites like youTube, flickr, ibibo and others.

2.2" TFT LCD
The 2.2" screen is bright and supports resolution upto 176 * 220. However, ever since I've witnessed the magic of Super AMOLED, everything else looks dull to my eyes.

Digital Camera with Video record & Play
This phone isn't meant to click high quality photos. The camera is plain VGA that supports upto 640 X 480 resolution. A big 'minus' when it comes to capturing videos or photographs. I think the phone could have done pretty well with a 3MP camera. Of course, there is an option to save your photos, videos directly to the SD card. One remarkable feature about this phone is that it's got night vision - that lets you view in dark!

Expandable Memory
There is support for MicroSD card upto 4GB. There's no official word from the company about the internal memory of this phone. I'm disappointed by the limited memory storage. The world is moving fast towards 16 and 31 GB storage in phones. So be careful if you're planning to keep this phone for long time. You might feel 'outdated' in an year or so.

Bluetooth
This phone supports Bluetooth 2.1, which does a decent job of transferring files to and fro from other bluetooth devices like Laptop or mobile phones.

Wireless FM with recording
The FM recording facility allows the users to record their favorite song/jingle playing on FM directly on the SD card. Very good facility and many people use it very frequently. However, be aware that with just 4GB of expandable storage, you might run out of space very soon. If you're heavily into music, maybe you should consider other options by the same company.

MP3 Player
The MP3 player does a fine job and the sound from the headphones is crisp. However, absense of graphic equalizer may put down many music freaks. The bass is 'okay' and does not impress much. Well, I might be expecting too much from this phone.

Torch
This application turns this device's inbuilt LED flash into a torch. Comes very handy while opening car doors in a dark basement or at night. Of course this drains the battery very fast!

Battery Life:
I don't have much information about the battery life. If anyone's got some information about it, please feel free to post it in this thread.

Verdict:
This phone is available in the market for a price of Rs. . 4,799. The torch app, MP3, and Dual SIM (GSM/CDMA) go in favor of this phone while limited expandable memory and poor camera go against this phone. However, the biggest drawback is absence of 3G support, which is rapidly becoming an important feature in India.

Spice S - 1200 12 MP Camera Phone Reviews & Price In India

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 08:44 AM PDT

Let's take a look at the Spice S-1200 camera that boasts of a 12 mega pixel camera with a CCD sensor. 12 MP Camera with Professional CCD Sensor. This phone is out and out a photographer's phone. With this phone in your hands, you won't need a digital camera/camcorder. Let's take a look at other camera features this phone offers.
Attachment 4 3X Optical Zoom + 9X Digital Zoom
This phone supports optical zoom upto 3x and digital zoom upto 9x. What this means is, the lense itself will adjust to make the distant object about 3 times larger and if you continue to zoom further, the digital zoom will kick in. The digital zoom enlarges the object further upto 9 times. What matters more is the 3x optical zoom than 9x digital zoom. Also, be alerted that the picture quality will drastically reduce if you click shots with zoom. Any minor shake will blur the photo. This comes from my experience. If you're zooming - you need VERY STEADY hands or a tripod. However, you can't easily mouth this phone over a tripod.

Multiple Face Detection
This feature is a de-facto feature in many 5MP+ camera phones. WHat it does is detects the human face in the photograph to be taken and adjusts the brightness, contrast settings automatically to give you optimal photo.

Smile Shutter
I personalyl use this feature a lot in my Sony Digicam. This feature first detects the face and waits for the person being photographed to smile. As soon as 'smile' is detected, the camera clicks the snap . No need to worry about getting perfect 'smiling' shots

Auto Focus
Auto focus is a useful feature that saves you lot of time focusing your lense for a perfect shot. Everything is handled automatically by this phone.

Anti-shake
I bet you will need this. It's impossible to have a perfectly steady, professional-like hand while clicking photographs. Anti-shake adjusts the shutter speed and clicks photos without blurring the images. Very useful in removing the 'ghosting' of photos.

Xenon Flash
Xenon flash is powerful and not very heavy on the battery. Very handy.

32 GB Expandable Memory
32 GB MicroSD card is rapidly becoming an industry standard now. This phone lets you add a 32GB microSD card.

TV Out with Cable
The phone has TV Out port that lets you connect your mobile directly to the TV to view clicked photographs and videos.

Stereo Bluetooth:
This feature lets you connect your phone with a stereo headset and listen to music over your bluetooth stereo headset.

Advanced Modes
• Manual/Auto/Multi Focus
• Macro Mode for Close Ups
• 24 Preset Capture Modes including Text Capture Mode

Despite having a very good camera - this phone cannot capture HD videos! The max supported resolution for videos is Up to 24.5 fps / motion jpeg 640 X 480 max )

With excellent camera features, the phone would have been complete with other regular smartphone features and 3G connectivity. However, I'm disappointed by the fact that this phone is not 3G ready. Also, the phone has 2.4" screen without S-LCD or SAMOLED, which isn't very impressive.

Of course, the phone is JAVA enabled and you can download & install games and applications.

Price & Verdict: As I said earlier, this phone is a photographer's phone that has an excellent camera that can capture great still photos. However, the absense of HD recording is a big disappointment for me. Also, there is no 3G network support so you can't really think of uploading your photos and videos directly to the social networking sites. For a price tag of Rs. 16990, this phone isn't a very good buy. You might want to consider other options available for similar price that have plenty of great features!

Spice Mi300 Android Touch Screen Reviews & Price In India

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 08:39 AM PDT

Spice Mobiles have recently launched the high-end smartphone in Indian market - the Spice Mi300. The phone is Android 2.1 powered and has many interesting features. There's also an introductory offer going on at present.

Let's review this phone and see how it stands up against the competition.

Attachment 3

Android 2.1
This phone runs on Google Android 2.1 mobile operating system. What this essentially means is that you get access to tens of thousands of applications available in the app store.

3G & Wi-Fi Connectivity:

A must in today's era. The phone supports superfast 3G connectivity for faster media downloads, video calling and internet surfing. Of course, the phone also has Wi-Fi connectivity to let you surf and check mails at wifi spots on airports, restaurants, college et al.

Advanced Global Positioning System:

This phone has AGPS receiver and lets you navigate at unknown locations. Google maps is the best maps application available in the market and its constantly updated.

Push Mail:

Business users will thank this phone for supporting the Push Mail service. That is the email is pushed to your device as soon as it is arrived in the mailbox. So you will get instantly notified about the new messages in your mailbox.

Multi-Touch Screen:

This phone has a multi-touch screen to let you 'pinch' the phone to zoom in & out of the photographs.

5 MP Camera & HD Video Capture:

The phone's got 5 MP camera that lets your shoot still pictures as well as hi-def videos. I don't have any official word on whether the phone's also got an LED Flash.

3.5 mm Headphones Jack :

The 3.5 mm headphone jack allows you to use your own high end headphones and enjoy music just the way you like it. It's an audiophile's dream come true.

Proximity Sensor:
The phone senses it when you put it to your ear and automatically locks the touch screen to avoid accidental call drops.

Price & Verdict: This phone is available at a price of Rs. 16,999/- and for Rs. 9999/- for a limited period as an introductory offer. I think for the introductory price, the phone is a quick grab for android lovers. At the same time, I'd also like you to go through few of the handsets available at a similar price by Micromax:

Karbonn K-331B Reviews & Price In India

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 06:29 AM PDT

Karbonn's new K 331 is latest entry into the mobile range the company has. This dual-SIM phone has most desired features available for a smart price of Rs. 4,331/- in India. Let's take a look at what this phone offers :-

  • Dual SIM
  • MMS, GPRS & WAP
  • FM
  • MP3
These features make it a preferred phone by the young generation who give importance to the Radio features and MP3. This is a music phone, as there is no camera in this phone. The screen is 1.8QQVGA which supports upto 65K colors - vibrant enough to display vivid colors. The supported resolution is 128x160 pixels. The keypad has a backlight that is very useful when you're inside a dark room or at night. The screen displays upto 8 lines of text at a time.

The phone book can support upto 1000 entries, which is more than enough for a non-business user. However the number of SMS that can be stored in this phone is limited to 500, so heavy SMS users will find it very restricting.

The phone sports a mini-USB to connect headphones and are required if you want to turn on the radio feature.

The phone also has quick dialing feature that lets you assign upto 8 mobile numbers to keypad. For example if you assign your home phone to number 1 on the keypad, you just have to press the number 1 to make a call to your home phone.

Overall, we feel that the phone does not justify the price it comes at: Rs. 4,330/-

Airfone AF 202 Dual Headphone Jack Mobile Reviews & Price In India

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 06:16 AM PDT

Airfone, the Delhi based mobile company is trying to make its presence felt in Indian markets is introducing mobile phones with unique features. The company has already launched a TV commercial featuring the couple from the Cadburry ad. Let's review this phone, its feature and whether it is worth the price.

Special Features Review:

Dual Sim Dual Standby
This phone is a dual SIM phone with dual standby. There is no support to CDMA. Therefore you can have two GSM connections in the single phone.

MP3 Player/ Video Player (3GP, MP4 & Real Play MP5)
Yes, this is a music phone and it supports variety of media formats including 3GP, MP3, MP4 (video) and real play MP5. The phone has inbuilt audio and video player that do the job fine!

One Touch Access Player to Music Player
The phone has a dedicated key to access your music player. You can now launch your favorite song on your phone in just no time.

FM Radio
This phone has FM radio that works when you connect the headphones to it. I'm not sure whether there's a facility to record directly from FM. If present, it'd be a big added advantage to this phone.

1.0 Mega Pixel Camera
This is very disappointing. 1 Mega Pixel camera is so outdated in today's world. You can't expect high quality photographs from this phone. The camera can be used to capture videos, but again, don't expect much.

Dual 3.5mm Jack
The phone's got this unique feature. This phone has two 3.5mm headphone jacks so that you and your friends can enjoy music simultaneously. I personally won't use this feature too often, but would be very handy during pickniks or outings.

WAP & GPRS
This phone has support for WAP & GPRS. This is a standard feature and doesn't really impress me in the world of 3G.

Torch
The phone has LED flash which can be used as a torch. I think the flash will be used more as a torch than while capturing photos.

High Stamina Battery (1500 mAh)
The battery this phone has is very impressive. This battery is strong enough to give you at least 5 days on a regular usage.

Bluetooth
The phone also has Bluetooth 2.1 to allow you to connect to other bluetooth enabled devices for file transfer.

High Capacity Phonebook (2000 nos.)
The phonebook supports 2k contacts which I think is more than enough for average, non-business user.

Expandable Memory (upto 16GB)
This is really awesome! This basic phone supports upto 16 GB expandable memory through microSD card. You can store thousands of songs and videos on this phone!

Auto Call Recording
With upto 16 GB of expendable memory, you can surely enjoy this feature that can help you record your calls.

Call Blacklist
You can block certain numbers from calling you. Any call from blocked number will not ring your phone and disturb you.

Price & Verdict: This phone is available in the market for about Rs. 2100/- to Rs. 2499/- and I think if you're tight on budget, you can consider this phone. With large battery backup and upto 16 GB of memory you can enjoy hours of music and videos on this phone. However, be alerted that this phone has a poor camera.

If you have any questions, feedback, comments, please post them in this thread.

Airfone AF-999 Reviews & Price In India

Posted: 26 Oct 2010 06:13 AM PDT

Airfone has launched a very basic phone in Indian Market. The model is AF 999, a very basic, dual SIM MP3 Phone that is very light on your pocket. Let's review this phone and find out whether it's worth the price.

Dual Sim Dual Standby
This is a dual SIM phone with Dual standby for a very low price. The supported networks are both GSM. There's no CDMA support.

Wireless FM Radio
Like all other Airfone phones, this model has Wireless FM radio that works without having to connect the headphones. There is no facility to record directly from FM.

MP3 Player
The phone has an inbuilt MP3 player that has basic functionality. There is no band equalizer with this mp3 player.

Expandable Memory
There is no official word on how much memory is supported by this phone. My best guess is that this phone supports upto 2GB of expandable memory.

1.44" Screen
This is an entry level phone and has a very small screen, big enough to display your messages and menu. The screen supports upto 65k colors.

Hindi/ English Interface
The phone supports two languages, Hindi & English.

Price & Verdict: This phone is available in the market for about Rs. 1999/- which is just alright for this phone.
