Posted: 22 Oct 2010 06:08 AM PDT ScanCorner aims to solve the problem faced by many people who have the 'hard copies' of their photographs and want to convert them into high quality digital images. The startup helps you convert all your photographs into digital format and helps you share them with your loved ones. This Hyderabad based startup claims to reach about 400 cities in India through its pick-up and deliver service for digital photographs. The company will arrange for pickup of your photos at your doorstep and also deliver the digital photos on a DVD along with the originals. About the founders: Quote: As is with any revolutionary startup firm, ScanCorner is born out of a need felt by one of our partners Eric Schreider to scan old photoslides of his god mother in Switzerland. He was looking for a good quality and affordable scanning service and found that most of the service providers charged phenomenal rates. Then, he felt that perhaps there are many others like him who needed such services. He had a momentary discussion with his classmate Raja Upputuri and they both decided to set up a high quality scanning facility in India to service customers in Switzerland and soon they roped in their MBA senior Raghuram KS to join in their enthusiastic venture. A fourth partner, Toni Casas, soon joined to develop Spanish market. Now, ScanCorner has invested in the best quality scanning hardware and software and have a dedicated team of media technicians and restoration engineers to offer you the best scanning output in the industry. Currently, ScanCorner services clients in India, Switzerland and Spain. 1. Get an account on the company's official website. 2. Place an order: If the pickup place is within company's reach, the company will arrange for pickup. Otherwise, you have to pack the photos in a cardboard box and courier it to the company. 3. The company will then digitize all the photos and upload them to a secure gallery on the website. 4. The company will also send all the originals and DVD of your photos to your original address. Costs: 1. Rs. 9 per scan for printed photos (upto 11"x8"), 35 mm colour negative and slides. 2. Rs. 14 for per scan Black & White negatives and all other formats. Company's Official Address & Contact: Kriya Media Solutions Pvt. Limited IACG , Nandini Complex, 3rd floor Beside Vijaya Diagnostic center , Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad-500036, INDIA Ph: +91 40 6663 8992 Mob: +91 95022 81460 I believe this startup has a lot of potential as many people want to share their old photos on social networking websites. Home scanning may not be an optimal choice for retaining the photo-scanning, however sophisticated hi-resolution scanners can do a wonderful job, I think that is the USP of this company. |
How to be like Walt - Capturing the Disney Magic Every Day of Your Life (Review) Posted: 22 Oct 2010 05:44 AM PDT I vividly remember the day when I went to that bookstore. "Crossword" was newly opened in my city. I, along with my 3 friends went there. And boy, we were mesmerized. Almost all the titles we knew, all the authors we had heard of, were in front of our eyes. The wide range of books all neatly aligned and the cool ambiance of the store, I was totally in love with Crossword. I had purposely saved money to buy a book. It was really difficult choosing just one (as funds were limited :p) And that's when I found this book: "How to be like Walt" I knew I had to buy this book. And that is indeed became the first book I bought on my own. (by saving money) Here's what people say about this book: "I’ve read every book that has ever been written about Walt Disney, going back to some that were published in the 1930s. [How to Be Like Walt] is by far the most enjoyable to read of them all!" —Tim O’Day, Disney Scholar "How to Be Like Walt is a fitting tribute to Walt’s memory and an important contribution to the Disney legacy . . . Now more than ever, we need people with the qualities Walt had: optimism, imagination, creativity, leadership, integrity, courage, boldness, perseverance, commitment to excellence, reverence for the past, hope for tomorrow, and faith in God." —Art Linkletter It's a good book. It becomes unthinkable that a man alone can be SUCH A GREAT Visionary. I thought I should share this with you all. :cean: |
IP connectionless and HTTP use TCP Posted: 22 Oct 2010 04:52 AM PDT Guys, I did not get the concept that IP datagrams that are used over internet to transfer messages is connectionless service and HTTP use TCP(connection oriented) service. My confusion is Does HTTP use IP datagrams or not ? If yes, then it is using connection-less service. If no, then which packets does it use ? Please reply...thanx in advance |
IP datagrams contains mac or not ? Posted: 22 Oct 2010 04:41 AM PDT Hello friends, Can anyone tell me whether there is MAC address inside Datagram or not ? If there is no mac, then how do we identify the desired system(receiver) in its network ? |
Man Vs. Machine: Robot EARL gets beaten Posted: 22 Oct 2010 02:45 AM PDT Chris Barnes takes on EARL - the Enhanced Automated Robotic Launcher - the new bowling robot at the International Training and Research Center in Arlington. This robot bowler, cheekily named EARL, is capable of laying down the exact same, utterly perfect shot every time. Yet it still lost to professional human bowler Chris Barnes. How did this happen? Is Cloud Computing Anti-Outsourcing? Posted: 22 Oct 2010 02:39 AM PDT The technology use is growing at an insane rate. But IT budgets are flat. Businesses now look for instant, pay-per-use, on-demand models. The cloud will impact IT service providers in a big way. It may not replace jobs, but cloud computing with its ease of set-up and cost benefits, could become the politically correct alternative to offshoring. More than ever, it's imperative to understand where firms will rely on third-party providers in the coming year and also where they'll increase spend. - Offshoring votary and technology strategist John McCarthy says newer technologies like cloud computing will cause a bigger dent in the off shoring business model than any ant anti- outsourcing moves coming out of the US. |
