Posted: 27 Sep 2010 09:33 AM PDT Quote: class a { } class c extends a { c(){System.out.println("class B");} public void toString() { String g="hello"; System.out.println(g); } public static void main(String [] arg) { a d=new a(); System.out.println(d); c y=new c(); //System.out.println(d); System.out.println(y); } } Here in the above program if we create an object of class a and simply print it then it shows a@1888759 as the output it means that it calls to String() from the Object class and returns the text representation of object of class a but i want to override toString() to print my own text i.e hello here but while executing it gives an error. So how to override the toString(). |
ISRO's New 'Bhuvan 3D' available for download. Gets refreshing new looks & features Posted: 27 Sep 2010 09:29 AM PDT Indian Space Research Organization has released the new version of Bhuvan 3D, which has new looks and loads of new features, says ISRO. Bhuvan has been made easier to use and more prominently, easier to understand and navigate. The new Bhuvan comes along with a bundle of new and exciting functionalities that will keep you hooked to it. This Earth Observation and visualization system has been specially designed to help you explore the world with specific focus on India in 2D and 3D landscape. Its new, fresh and appealing look is more accessible in terms of its design, content and imagery, and will keep you coming back for more. New Services Bhuvan range of services include provision of information on various themes like land resources, Agriculture, Soil, Water, Ocean sciences, Ground water potential, Eco systems, Bio diversity etc . This information is extracted from multi-resolution remote sensing images, which are taken by the various ISRO satellites. For example, when it comes to land services, over a period of time, remote sensing technology has improved and is being operationally used in extracting valuable information on various aspects of soils, wastelands, ground water prospects, land degradation, etc. This contributes in planning and towards developmental activities for the betterment and development of the Indian agrarian economy. The key to improved weather forecast and services is the information derived by observation. This increasing observation network is essential for providing weather and related information at local level. Information derived from the satellite imagery helps in the creation of digital data base for facilitating hazard zonation, damage assessment, monitoring of major natural disasters and R&D towards early warning of disasters. Collaborate Tool The community tool connects the Bhuvan users on one collaborative network. Connecting over the internet / intranet, users can chat, annotate the terrain with text labels and free hand drawing, point using a virtual cursor, and synchronize their flight. Bhuvan also allows the user to lead, follow, and share in real-time, interactive fly-through sessions, chat with other users, mark up areas on the terrain, and toggle information layers for further analysis. They can also invite the other Bhuvan users to share guided tours along with loads of fun! Money has no value unless you spend it.....Thought provoking logic Posted: 27 Sep 2010 05:43 AM PDT This is a crazy world! Interesting article written by an Indian Economist : Japanese save a lot. They do not spend much. Also, Japan exports far more than it imports. Has an annual trade surplus of over 100 billions. Yet Japanese economy is considered weak, even collapsing. Americans spend, save little. Also US imports more than it exports. Has an annual trade deficit of over $400 billion. Yet, the American economy is considered strong and trusted to get stronger. But where from do Americans get money to spend? They borrow from Japan , China and even India . Virtually others save for the US to spend. Global savings are mostly invested in US, in dollars. India itself keeps its foreign currency assets of over $50 billions in US securities. China has sunk over $160 billion in US securities. Japan 's stakes in US securities is in trillions. Result: The US has taken over $5 trillion from the world. So, as the world saves for the US - Its The Americans who spend freely. Today, to keep the US consumption going, that is for the US economy to work, other countries have to remit $180 billion every quarter, which is $2 billion a day, to the US ! A Chinese economist asked a neat question. Who has invested more, US in China , or China in US? The US has invested in China less than half of what China has invested in US. The same is the case with India . We have invested in US over $50 billion. But the US has invested less than $20 billion in India. Why the world is after US? The secret lies in the American spending, that they hardly save. In fact they use their credit cards to spend their future income. That the US spends is what makes it attractive to export to the US . So US imports more than what it exports year after year. The result: The world is dependent on US consumption for its growth. By its deepening culture of consumption, the US has habituated the world to feed on US consumption. But as the US needs money to finance its consumption, the world provides the money. It's like a shopkeeper providing the money to a customer so that the customer keeps buying from the shop. If the customer will not buy, the shop won't have business, unless the shopkeeper funds him. The US is like the lucky customer. And the world is like the helpless shopkeeper financier. Who is America 's biggest shopkeeper financier? Japan of course. Yet it's Japan which is regarded as weak. Modern economists complain that Japanese do not spend, so they do not grow. To force the Japanese to spend, the Japanese government exerted itself, reduced the savings rates, even charged the savers. Even then the Japanese did not spend (habits don't change, even with taxes, do they?). Their traditional postal savings alone is over $1.2 trillions, about three times the Indian GDP. Thus, savings, far from being the strength of Japan , has become its pain. Hence, what is the lesson? That is, a nation cannot grow unless the people spend, not save. Not just spend, but borrow and spend. Dr. Jagdish Bhagwati, the famous Indian-born economist in the US , told Manmohan Singh that Indians wastefully save. Ask them to spend, on imported cars and, seriously, even on cosmetics! This will put India on a growth curve. This is one of the reason for MNC's coming down to India , seeing the consumer spending. 'Saving is sin, and spending is virtue.' But before you follow this Neo Economics, get some fools to save so that you can borrow from them and spend !!! |

Corporate Hierarchy In Infosys Posted: 27 Sep 2010 01:43 AM PDT Hello, Someone asked me about the hierarchy levels in Infosys and I've absolutely no idea about it. I've searched the Internet and could not locate much useful information. I think it's a good opportunity for us to list out the same for various companies in different threads to make it easier for people to search. Anyone knows the corporate hierarchy in Infosys? Please list the designations from Junior to the Senior-most positions (which is CEO). |

Posted: 27 Sep 2010 12:25 AM PDT We have to write a report/thesis for our project in college. The College has given us a typical format for the same. It has a topic called "Literature Survey". I understand that the topic itself interprets to something like "write about the books/journals/articles that we have referred for the project" But I browsed about the topic on the web and found some very different interpretations. Do you know what the term exactly means? (And if my project idea is totally new and has never been implemented before I won't refer any books other than those for the platform I will be using, right?) |
Posted: 27 Sep 2010 12:07 AM PDT CEans, It's been just over a month since aj_onduty aka Ajit joined CrazyEngineers. Within such a short period of time he has impressed all with his presence all over CE. A crazy electrical engineer, CEan aj_onduty calls CrazyEngineers his Second Famliy. We had a small conversation with Ajit. Check this out - CE: Hi Ajit, you are a Crazy Electrical Engineer, tell us more about yourself. Ajit: I finished my B.Tech. in EEE this year. Currently, I am undergoing training in a developer firm. (Umm, we develop power plants; do some EPC contracts on those lines too). Having a good time now! I am a friend, a helper and I have a few things in myself which you can find in your thoughts about an ideal friend. I believe in God and I am a traditional Indian youth. CE: How did you get introduced to Crazy Engineers (CE)? Ajit: A search engine (read it as Google) made me visit this site, it was an accidental discovery. To be frank, I started looking into the details just because I loved the font, in which the name "Crazy Engineers" was/is written, but when I started understanding what this is all about; I made up my mind to share my views here, to help myself correct myself by the suggestions of every member here. I made up my mind to devote some time here, to make my time of some value to others. I developed awe about the whole system. If I start talking more, trust me, I won't stop. CE: Why did you take up "Electrical" as your engineering trade? What do you like most about it? Ajit: To be frank, it's not my decision. My parents wanted me to take up engineering; I opted for electrical engineering as a result of a small research among brothers of a few friends of mine. But I should say I would have missed a lot if I wouldn't have taken EEE. I love my discipline. Just as someone said, you should get what you like, else simply like what you get. Generally, the like-what-you-get part is a bit hard, but I found it easy. CE: What do you like the most about yourself? Ajit: My ability to adjust, my way of doing things, the method of selecting people (which I follow). To be frank, I love the way I am. CE: What is your favorite pass time? Ajit: Work is fun for me. I love to keep myself busy. When I don't work I write songs (which no one would see. I hide the book from others.). I work out, I read the newspaper (that's the last thing I do), and when there is no one around, I sing. Oh, Did I define what my work is? Its being at two places at a time: in CE and in my office. CE: Who are your idols or inspirations? Ajit: My idol of inspiration number one is not a famous person at all. He is a person, who has worked real hard to make a lot of people smile, but still, no one knows much about him. He is the reason I am here answering to these questions, he's my dad. My second idol of inspiration is not a person; it's a group of incidents called difficulties. They don't let me go down, they make me move forward. They inspire me. Many others have inspired me a lot; Einstein, Dhirubhai, Ambani, and a lot of other icons have made me what I am now, from the experiences they had. CE: What is the biggest achievement in your life so far? Ajit: I got a heart which dreams big and a brain which lets me make those dreams come true. That is my greatest achievement. I am confident of what I do, and whatever I do, I do with confidence. CE: Rapid Fire Questions : 1. Name Top 5 CEans Ajit: The_Big_K, Durga, gohm, Civil Princess, AKD 2. If you are granted 3 wishes, what would you ask for? Ajit: a) Unlimited money (If you think money isn't everything, think again) b) Stay with my parents till the end of my life and let them die with me, if we ever die. c) Be a good friend 3. If you were not an engineer, you would be? Ajit: Pursuing MBA and be a tycoon of some sort. 4. Your biggest blooper till date is? Ajit: The day I was in the Principal's office in my night dress.(It's a long story ) 5. A moment you can never forget. Ajit: The day I sang in our college fest ignoring the high fever I was suffering from. People hurled chairs on me. 6. 5 years from now, you will Ajit: Be financially stable, marry, start thinking about having kids and live with my wife happily ever after. ;) CE: If you were a politician, what will your 5 year plan look like? Ajit: a) Remove casteism and the perks people get due to their castes and minority factors, and change the reservation system to income level of the people(low income groups must get more help). b) Get myself a license to shoot corrupt people at sight.(I know that wouldnt happen, but let me dream big!) c) Never allow Kalmadi to take up CWG again d) First make people in India stable financially, then bribe for allowing India to conduct CWG CE: What do you want to say about CE? Ajit: In a word, INNOVATIVE. This thought can come from only a genius, a thought, executed brilliantly; I thank God who made the man behind this idea make it so useful. To speak about CE, I can write a book about it. I owe CE some achievements, which has changed my life. It boosted my confidence when I wanted a lot of it. My technical viewpoint about Engineering changed a lot. I can now be confident while answering to my bosses when they ask technical queries. Thanks a lot. CE is my second family. |
