Posted: 24 Sep 2010 03:04 PM PDT Hey there, my name is Patryk. Lets see, I am a senior in high school. I play play soccer for my varsity team and basketball in an outside league. You may ask why a high school senior is on this website; my answer is that I became very interested in electrical engineering while attending the United States Military Academy Summer Leadership Seminar. There we built a digital thermometer and light sensing bug out of premade kits. This sparked my hopes to attend West Point and major in EE. I just want a head start in experience and knowledge in the vast world of EE, and I hope that you all can help! I have no experience in reading schematics or really doing anything apart from my time at the seminar, so I might need help with that if I want to do something! |

Silencer Design And Optimisation Posted: 24 Sep 2010 11:34 AM PDT My final year BE project is silencer design and optimization Ofcourse passive control. Reactive type silencer (non dissipative). One which uses tubular elements n creates impedance mismatch. Now the point is, design is based on TMM transfer matrix method, which Im not familiar with and having difficulty in understanding.also i intend to use genetic algorithm in matlab and then after finding out optimised values i hav to manufacture it n analyse it in anechoic chamber. What i need is has anyone done this.Is there something which i can know  in order to reduce effort.lol. any more suggestions or advice is welcomeeeeeeeed. |

Urdhvaa 2k10 @ Medak College Of Engineering & Technology Posted: 24 Sep 2010 10:57 AM PDT Urdhvaa, the national level technical extravaganza organized by MCET is an ode to stupendous growth made by science and technology over the years. With six departments encompassing myriad fields of technology and management, this tech offers two days of thorough indulgence to the technically inclined. Different technical events are organized like paper presentation, poster presentation, technical quiz, model presentation, troubleshooting, innovision, face the media, track the senAbuse Word. We want a large cross section of student community to be part of the fest. These two days of fest will be hub of many student centric and brain storming activities. We believe that in every person in this world is present that can lead the individual to glorious positions. We shall provide events catering to various tastes of individual to try their talents in that field like instant ad making to test your creativity, treasure hunt that boggles your mind for clues and jam sessions. Robomania is an interesting game cum intellectual exercise for building engineers determined to innovate and create machines for producing desired results. Date: 11th and 12th October 2010. Posted: 24 Sep 2010 04:59 AM PDT Hello CEans! Lets have our own encyclopedia of engineering terms. Pick a random engineering term, define it,explain it and submit it here. As good the explaination, better the information. Note:Please provide true information about the term. :cean: |
Tata DOCOMO launches its first Mobile Phone Posted: 24 Sep 2010 04:34 AM PDT Tata DOCOMO has launched its first co-branded mobile handset OneTouch Net Phone from Alcatel. OneTouch comes preloaded with a suite of Yahoo services alongwith two buttons to launch Yahoo services and Tata Docomo's Dive In portal. Tata DOCOMO has already captured the service provider market, will its launch in this product sector create waves? |
AgO to show AnXplorer analog and RF circuit optimization tool at SAME 2010 Posted: 24 Sep 2010 04:07 AM PDT Sophia Antipolis, France, 24th September 2010. AgO Inc, a technology leader in analog and RF circuit optimization, will show AnXplorer a new tool for optimizing analog and RF circuits at the SAME 2010 Exhibition. AnXplorer with an unsized SPICE netlist, variables for device dimensions and a set of design objectives and constraints, then optimizes device sizes by rigorously exploring the design space. By centering the design across all specified, process, temperature and voltage corners, AnXplorer achieves a robust design thereby enhancing the yield and improving the probability of first time silicon success. AnXplorer can fit into commonly used design toolsets as it works with industry standard SPICE netlists and simulators. A designer can create an unsized circuit, design variables and objectives. AnXplorer will then generate an optimized, centered circuit that meets or exceeds the design objectives across all corners specified by the user. It uses a new multi-algorithmic optimization strategy aided by an expert system. Hillol Sarkar, CEO of AgO Inc said "Europe has strong wireless communication and automotive semiconductor sectors requiring the most advanced tools for analog and RF circuit design". He added, "Analog circuits are responsible for 50% of all IC design respins; by automating the analog circuit optimization, AnXplorer can significantly improve the likelihood of first time silicon success". AnXplorer's innovation lies in its core optimisation technology. Many previous optimisation tools have relied on gradient-based or convex optimisation approaches, which are not suitable for arbitrary functions with multiple local minima. AnXplorer's multi-algorithm strategy rigorously searches the design space, and can find a global optimum in the presence of local optima. Centering over all process, temperature and supply voltage corners improves yield. Users can control the way optimization takes place by defining a hierarchy of design objectives. Unlike weighted-based handling of multiple objectives, the tool attempts to meet high priority objectives before optimizing lower priority ones. AnXplorer's design exploration database records all points during the optimization process. This enables designers to undertake "what-if" analysis or to trade off conflicting objectives if all objectives cannot realistically be met. AgO will show AnXplorer at booth number Startup: 19. Dr Roddy Urquhart, European representative for AgO Inc will speak at the Start-ups Panel on October 6, 2010: 13:30 15:00. About AnXplorer AnXplorer is a new generation circuit optimization tool for analog and RF design. It uses a novel optimization approach based on either simulation or equations. The tool works with industry standard SPICE netlists and supports industry standard simulators including Synopsys HSPICE, Cadence Spectre, Mentor Eldo and Legend Design Technology MSIM. It runs on the Linux operating system. New Sections Idea: Feedback Required! Posted: 24 Sep 2010 12:08 AM PDT Hello All, I had this idea of a new section on CE; let's call it "College Corner" to host discussions related to different engineering colleges all over the world. However, we have a section that more or less does the same thing: CE Events section, where students and professionals can discuss the events and happenings in colleges or organizations. So, do you think a new section for college discussions (like events, happenings, daily updates) makes sense? Will you use it? Will the members want to contribute to it? ----------------------------------- Second idea is to introduce a new section for discussion of university papers. All our engineering students can discuss their and other university papers through it. So as soon as you come home from the exam, you post the questions on CE to discuss them with others. Do you think it will be useful? We don't want to introduce a section and then watch it become dead over a period of time like few of our existing sections. So your feedback on this is required! |
